The Participatory Culture Foundation has released version 2.0 of their open-source-multiple-format-video-playing-media-enabled-RSS-reading-bit-torrent-distributing application. Miro works well with the Open Media Project because unlike iTunes, Miro plays Flash. We plan to eventually offer other formats (probably H.264 and Ogg Theora) of our videos, but until then (and maybe even after that) we're suggesting DOM members use Miro to subscribe to shows.
Every Project created with the Open Media System gets a unique RSS feed. Those feeds are both GeoRSS and Media RSS enabled. If you visit a project like DOM's Vlog TV, users will see an RSS icon at the bottom of the page. Some browsers will also indicate that RSS in available in the address field.
Each browser behaves a little differently when clicking on the RSS icon, but by passing URL of the RSS to Miro, it will download the .flv as soon as new Shows are added to the Project. We need to do some more work to get the thumbnail included in the RSS so the video gets its thumbnail in Miro, but we're pretty excited that this working!
The Open Media System and Miro, bringing your community's content to a generation of viewers who don't understand why someone would need a wire run to their house to watch TV any more than they need one to talk on their phone.

Awesome! I just downloaded the latest Miro 2.01 and got it up and running. It sliced right through our educational firewall, and I'm psyched to start offering content.
