Redesign modules page
http://drupal.org/node/538904
We kicked of this edition with a rundown of the modules page redesign effort that has had lots of energy the last few weeks. Discussion is lively and we should take care it doesn't turn into a clash of opinions. There was a good question on how we will decide on a direction, and where to base that decision on. We discussed that a bit and came up with the following:
- A first stab at a prioritized task list for the modules page
- We will verify those assumptions with some interviews
- We can use this list to find the best ideas for the most important tasks in all the mockups that have been posted.
A prioritized list of tasks to complete on the modules page
- Find a module.
- Enable / Disable module
- Use description to orientate what the module is about
- Change the permissions / configurations of a module
- View available updates
- View current module versions
- View which modules are required to be able to enable, disable or uninstall a module
The interviews
Dharmesh agreed to write up interview questions. Dharmesh and bojhan will conduct some interviews. The more the merrier, leave a comment here if you want to help us getting a clearer picture of how people think of things to do on the module page.
Use the task list + interview insights to find the best ideas in the mockups
The prioritized tasks will help us get a clearer picture on which ideas supports which task the best. From there we should be able to cherry-pick our way towards a design we implement and then test. This will take several iterations.
Quick review of mobile admin ux prototype
lewisnyman posted a first prototype exploring mobile admin ux, focussing on navigation (& not on create/settings forms). Lewis explains in http://groups.drupal.org/node/191593#comment-637193. The prototype lives here: http://nav.d8mux.org I've added some thoughts to http://groups.drupal.org/node/191593
