I am very happy to announce that I (finally!) am publishing my book Drupal 7 – the Essentials in the documentation section on drupal.org!
The book covers basic and advanced site building with Drupal core, Views, Flag, Rules, Page manager and Panels. So far only "part A" (74 of 324 pages) are published, but I hope to finish it before the end of the week.
If you're curious, check out http://drupal.org/node/1576418.
The plan was initially to use the book as a starting point for a section for curated documentation, but for various resons I found it better to go ahead rather than wait.
The book was written by help of NodeOne, and the online version has a lot of language improvements provided by AlternateRoute. Cred.

Thanks!!!!
In case anyone is interested, Johan/Itangalo and I had a brief email conversation about this recently, and I'm excited that he, NodeOne, and the Drupal Documentation Team leadership (i.e., me) came to a quick agreement that this was a great thing to do! There's a small "courtesy of" notice going in at the bottom of each chapter heading page, which seemed in line with similar notices that contributed module developers put on there project pages. Hopefully, no one will think this is excessive advertising, but instead a small acknowledgement of a generous donation of some great content to Drupal.org!
Thanks Johan and NodeOne!
And by the way, you could also link the book title in your attribution notices to Amazon... especially if you use the Drupal Association's affiliate link so that if someone purchases a hard-copy, a small portion will go back to the DA (at no cost to NodeOne). :) See one of the links at http://drupal.org/node/1485156 for details.

Book link
I'll definitely consider adding an affiliate link to buying the book at Amazon.
Do you know who to talk with to get the book listed at http://drupal.org/node/1485156? I think it was listed there for a while, but was removed since it wasn't published by a "real" publisher. Now that the book is available on drupal.org, I think it makes more sense to link to it from the book list.
I can get it listed
I can actually edit that page.
Doing it now.Done!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Oh yeah...
You might want to cross-post this to the Documentation group?

Ooops
It seems I accidentally cross-posted to the wrong forum. (The Drupal 7 group got an unexpected post.) Now fixed! Thanks for noticing, and thanks for the encouragement!
Thanks
Just thanks, Itangalo you rock!
I have looked at quite a few of the node one videos too and they always make sense and leave me able to expand on the concepts covered to suit my own project.

Done!
Just wanted to say that the full book is now published.
Since it's on drupal.org, it's creative commons license – so anyone is free to use, study, share and improve. (Especially the last one: If you see weird stuff or just have a better way of explaining something, don't be afraid to improve the book!)
That's great to hear, Johan -
That's great to hear, Johan - good on you for just going for it and posting it. You've made a huge contribution in sharing this. :)
