There are three things you need in order to join an online dojo lesson: two pieces of software, and some time.
- A newer-model, javascript-capable browser. We recommend Safari, IE7, or Opera or Firefox2.
- Teamspeak and a set of speakers or headphones. The audio sometimes streams directly to all participants through an embedded applet in the webpage, but sometimes it doesn't, so being able to log via Teamspeak guarantees you'll get audio.
- A couple of hours and a willingness to ask questions. Seriously, that's it. With the two pieces of software listed above, and a willingness to learn, you will be able to enjoy a peek into the inner workings of Drupal each week.
How to connect:
To join a dojo lesson in-progress, fire up your web browser and go to Dojo Room 1, Dojo Room 2 or Dojo Room 3. You will be presented with a pop-up dialog box that proclaims, "This applet was signed by 'ultravnc.net', yadda yadda." Click 'Trust' or 'OK' to load the applet and continue. Please note that the live screencast page will be blank unless we are currently conducting a training. Here's what the screencast reflector page looks like:

It goes without saying that you will have to enable Java applets and Javascript in your browser for this to work.
Optional Software
IRC: You will not have to learn how to use IRC (or learn anything new at all) to enjoy a lesson. If you're familiar with IRC and it's featureset, however, you may want to join us in #drupal-dojo on FreeNode (irc.freenode.net) and use Dojo Room 1, Dojo Room 2 or Dojo Room 3 instead. The lesson plan info and related links can be found by typing "lesson?" in #drupal-dojo. A Skype dial-up number can always be discovered by typing "skype?" in #drupal-dojo as well.
For instructions about hosting a VNC session, see http://groups.drupal.org/node/3097.

Using vncviewer application rather than applet
If you want to use a client application, rather than the java applet, you can do something like:
vncviewer webavant.com:5999 -ViewOnly -Shared(Correct at time of writing, check the source of http://webavant.com/vncviewer/vnc.htm to confirm - look for the port tag)
Simon Roberts
Taniwha Solutions
The port number has changed
The port number for Dojo Room1 is now 6001 (as of 08-01-2007)
