Documenting Requests for Documentation/Evaluation

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

An important part of expanding use and adoption of the Open Media Project tools is getting reliable, useful evaluation of the work. For the past several months, we've been a bit overwhelmed and surprised by the diversity of requests for evaluation and documentation for groups with intentions to use the Open Media Project tools in environments we had not anticipated.

At Civic Pixel and D.O.M. we started documenting these requests, in the hope that we may be able to participate in some future evaluation process that could examine the effectiveness of the OMP tools in the context of other similar endeavors to help establish best-practices in different environments. Because we know there are now evaluation and documentation requests coming-in to other partner stations, I wanted to move this list out of our internal google-doc and into a wiki where all the OMP participants could post further evaluation and documentation needs.

Its not pretty, but its editable by all, so perhaps someone else can improve the formatting.

How are you folks managing large volumes of video and associated meta data? Can we get better documentation of on-line media management via Drupal?

I heard Ms. Theis speak at a SCAN NATOA seminar in December 2008 in Huntington Beach, California regarding Denver Open Media. The DOM model of Public Access is something that I have been recommending that our electeds and local public access producers look at due to changes in California state law that have severely impacted the provision of public access in the City of Los Angeles.

I have given Ms. Theis' name to several of our (leading) local public access producers in the hope that Ms. Theis can assist them in organizing (by providing information) to operate a channel along the lines of DOM. Please let her know that they may be contacting her soon. If she has any questions, please feel free to have Ms. Theis call me directly at 213.922.8383 (desk) or 213.361-0003 (cell). To avoid long distance call charges, Ms. Theis can also e-mail me at william.imperial@lacity.org.

I'd like to see it evaluated based on the cost of deploying and maintaining such a system over five years and three or four versions of Drupal, especially for organizations with no web talent and organizations with HTML talent but no PHP/SQL talent.

Is there a current list pertaining to those looking to evaluate and/or implement OMP tools/solutions?
