New Drupal website for the Québec Free Software Week

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

We've just launched the new SQIL (Semaine québécoise de l'informatique libre) website in Drupal, migrating from the 2005 WordPress we had. The SQIL 2007 is taking place in September with Software Freedom Day so you all have 6 months to come up and organize interesting activities.

We're also looking for a little help with the site, so if you have experience with multilingual Drupal sites and/or organic groups, don't be shy and let us know, we could use a hand :)

Willing to help

davemybes's picture

I have done a couple of multilingual sites (e.g. http://mbacasecomp.com), so I'd be willing to lend a hand with that aspect. I haven't worked with OG before, but I'm going to have to use it for a client so getting some exposure to it would be nice. Kind of a "I scratch your back" thing :) Let me know what I can do to help and we'll work something out.

Yikes, sorry about the

Yikes, sorry about the delay, got swamped with a bunch more stuff. I had the pleasure to go through OG with webchick a few days ago, settled a lot of questions I had. I might just go ahead and install i18n and OG tonight since it's going to go a long way to favor adoption.

Thanks for your offer, let's see if we can find something else for you to do ;)

No worries

No worries - I've been pretty busy myself. You don't need to search too hard for stuff to do for me - my current to-do list is rather long ;)

Hopefully we'll get the chance to talk at one of the upcoming local gatherings. I don't think I'll be able to make tomorrow's one, but I'll try to be there for the next one.

Hey, it was nice meeting

Hey, it was nice meeting you, but short ;)

We now have i18n and organic groups enabled on the SQIL website, although it's going to take a few more day to smooth everything out and have most of it translated, but we're getting there.

Thank you again, Angie, your OG tips were very helpful :)

Hi millette,

Any OG tips Angie shared with you as well as any OG tips directly from you would be most appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Cool...

@Robin: Cool! Glad to help. :D

@Walt: Come on up to Montreal any time. ;) It can't be more than 2,000 miles or so from Texas. ;)

In all seriousness, based on comments like this and also comments on the last Lullabot article I wrote, a screencast demoing OG might be in order when I next get some free time. That way the next time someone asks for help, I can just point 'em there. ;)

I should start another

I should start another thread to describe this but this will do for now.

I hit a brick wall it would seem. It appears you can translate a group node like any other node through i18n, except then you end up with two groups, two sets of subscribers, two different admins, etc. I hadn't tried Panels yet, so I gave that a try, hoping to base groups on them, containing nodes to both translations. Alas, Panels aren't a content type so that won't work.

Organic Groups Issue

I was wondering if you have made any progress on this issue since your last post. I am currently facing the same issue which is compounded by the fact that I have CiviCRM integrated so tightly with OG.
