Hello all
We at Jaypan are considering putting on a seminar or seminars on Drupal module and/or theme development. However, as we started to put together our course material and looking at locations, we realized we should first gauge whether or not there is any interest in this, and what specifically people would like to learn.
We are well versed in all areas of Drupal development, from module building to themeing, to site building. We take pride in building beautiful and complex Drupal sites, with a heavy emphasis on custom development, low system overhead, and heavily ajaxified applications. While we have not done any seminars yet, we do help out in the Drupal forums daily, both to give back to the community, and also to increase our own problem solving skills.
Some questions we would like to ask are:
1) Are you interested in participating in Drupal seminars on either module development and/or themeing?
2) Which of these would interest you more, development or themeing?
3) We are considering having the seminar(s) in Tokyo, though if there is enough interest, other parts of the country are definitely possible. If the seminar were in Tokyo, would you be able to come? And if not, where in the country would work better for you?
4) We are thinking that seminars would be 3-4 hours/day, on a Saturday and Sunday. Does this seem like a good amount of time, too much, or too little?
5) How much would you be willing to pay for such a seminar, what would you expect to get out of it?
6) Participants would be required to bring their own computers - would this be a dealbreaker for you? Is it fine? Or maybe even preferable?
7) We are considering mid-December for our first seminar, would this be too soon? What times of year are preferable for seminars like this?
8) Would you prefer a seminar like this in English, Japanese, or bilingual?
These are the questions we have off the top of our head. Jay, our leader, has plenty of experience in putting together and presenting at seminars, however this is the first time doing one specifically for Drupal. If this is something that can go well, we will likely make it a regular thing, with different seminars focusing on different areas. For example, AJAX applications in Drupal, theming Drupal, creating forms in Drupal, creating themes from scratch in Drupal, responsive web design in Drupal... and so on.
We look forward to your thoughts, and thank you for your time and input.

I'm glad we decided to start
I'm glad we decided to start this thread before going any further! Looks like there may not be much (any?) demand for this.
