Agenda?

totsubo's picture

I might be interested in going, what's going to presented/discussed?

I updated Agenda.

Please feel free to ask any question.
We basically want to enjoy talking about Drupal and share our experience.
And hopefully we can increase our skill.

Agenda

Antoine Lafontaine's picture

Here is a loose translation of the Agenda given above by Osonoi-san:

This will be the last meetup before the end of the year, so we'll also be trowing a bounenkai (party at the end of the year in Japan). There will also be a member of the IPA (sorry I can translate and I'm too lazy to google it up) which will be presenting a free server/hosting service (?). At the moment there not much more detail than that.

Thanks Antoine.

for your translation and signup. I look forward to seeing you.

New guy

Hi there,

I just found this node by searching for "tokyo" on Drupal Groups. I moved in Saitama this week after having arrived in Japan from Canada around six weeks ago. Are there any prerequisites to attend this event?

Tu dois aimé la poutine!

Tu dois aimé la poutine!

There are no prerequisites of any sorts but I suggest you have a good look at google map/open street map before coming since it seems that the building's entrance always pose a hard time for first time comers. (The building itself is a big apartment complex, but it is quite easy to miss the entrance to it)

Hope we can see you around.

Mmmm!

remi's picture

Awesome! I'll have a look at the map and try to make it there.

En parlant de poutine : http://edojin.com/en/2009/12/03/tokyoite-poutine :P

I will try to take video

osonoi's picture

I will try to take video to go to meetup place and youtube it.
Please let me know if I forget to do that.

I'll attend this meetup. I'm looking forward to see you .

Y'aura de la poutine!?

totsubo's picture

Only local images are allowed.

osonoi's picture

Antoine Lafontaine's picture

xbro's picture

You can get a cheap version

Antoine Lafontaine's picture

You can get a cheap version of it a Beckers in Japan (I do not garranty the flavor nor the volume of it - it looks ridiculously small.)

As for being able to make it, I wish I could, but I've never seen any Cheese curds (small chunks of cheese) in Japan... It can be done using regular grated cheese, but you loose a lot of the experience since the cheese just melts while the curbs still keep some of it's shape even though it's melting from the hot sauce and fries. (that's poutine science for you, hey!)

There are also less traditional combinations that add some toppings in the mix like chicken, sausages, green peas and even cole slaw. The sauce can also be replaced with bolognese sauce and gives you what is called "italian poutine"...

Geez, can we even start to call that "haute cusine"...

And btw, just the fact that we (I) talk french doesn't make us French... please check your sources before making jokes that can backfire quickly...

thanks for the details

xbro's picture

ever since I saw that dish on TV I've been wanting to taste it.

btw, the fact that there is any possibility that my comments can backfire is quite a mystery to me?
Yes, and sorry you were from Quebec, I noticed afterwards and was wondering if the comments would pass and I know you're nice guy, but you're about as foreign as French to me so cut me some slack will you.

btw.. :) why did you post the photo? were you missing Quebec for a moment there?

rom3v33's picture

Sorry. I won't be here in Japan on the 19th.
I hope you enjoy the bounenkai. See you next year.

totsubo's picture

The announcement says: 12月19日(日)13:00-17:00 : Date 12/19 (Sat) 13:00-17:00

I'm guessing the Japanese is incorrect and it should be 12月19日(土)?

Yes 12

osonoi's picture

Tomorrow after-noon!

remi's picture

Looking forward to meet all of you tomorrow! I may not be able to stay for the entire event, however, as I'll need to leave at around 5 PM to go meet a friend in the evening. (I know. I'll be missing all the fun.)

TLUG conflict

I have another one for next meetup

osonoi's picture

I have another one for next meetup.

I think this is a great club.

I think this is a great club. I'll be sure to attend the next meet-up and not have any other plans so I don't have to leave early!

iCal feed times seam wrong

ussher's picture

I just set up Google Calendar to add the iCal feed on so i can make sure i dont miss the next meet up, but the times seam wrong. Could someone else please import that iCal feed from the right hand column into their google calendar to see if they get the correct times please.

Mine shows up on the correct day on the calendar with the title:
12/19, Tokyo meet up

but the details after that are a miss.
12/26/2009 10:00pm to 2:00am 12/27/2009

not sure if its a google calendar issue or the feed issue though. Pretty sure the times should have been 13:00 to 21:00.
(even if i did come late and leave early. I'll try to get it right next time :) )

The title of the event says

Garrett Albright's picture

The title of the event says "12/19, Tokyo meet up" but the actual time of the event is set for the 26th. See the top of the event post here.

As for the time, it's set to 13:00 to 17:00 UTC, which is apparently 22:00 to 26:00 in the time zone you are using with GooCal (JST?). But oddly, when I open the Ical feed with Apple's iCal, it imports the event at 13:00 to 17:00 in local time here in California. iCal must be doing this wrong, because looking at the feed contents manually, it explicitly states the time as being in the UTC "zone." It's probably safe to assume the actual event will be at 13:00 JST on the 26th.

Hi Garrett, Thanks for

ussher's picture

Hi Garrett,

Thanks for looking at this. There was an event last weekend 12/19 from 13:00 to 21:00 JST. I think this is the one that is being documented by the iCal feed. (unless there is another meet up in a couple of days on the 26th....)

not too much sense in having a calendar feed if it gives the wrong dates and times for events though. :)

like you said, maybe that UTC should have been JST. That would fix the time issue. not sure about the date issue though.

Sorry I made confusion

osonoi's picture

I happend to make 2 contents http://groups.drupal.org/node/32464 and http://groups.drupal.org/node/38072.
And keep 38072 the latest and correct info and forgot to update 32464.
I should have been delete 32464.
Sorry.
