Drupal frontend meetup - November 2014 - "Beating the Class out of Drupal 8"
Location: Phase2 Portland Office, 514 NW 11th ave. Suite #203
For years now, frontend developers have ranted and whined about Drupal's divitis, a disease that's been greatly eradicated in Drupal 8 with the introduction of smarter templates and the use of Twig.

Devsigner is happening again this next year! We had a successful kick-off meeting last Wednesday and some amazing people have stepped up to take on some central roles.
We are looking to fill a few more spots on our organizing team. Here's what we still need:
Website content creator - Create static and occasional news content for the website. You should be a good writer and able to convey our purpose and tone well.

Good Morning Everyone!
I had a great time at the meet up last night and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Rachel and I've been a freelance content administrator for several years now; working with several companies such as Genuine Interactive, ISITE Design, and New Group on various content migration, front end development and social media tasks. The majority of the site i've worked on are in Drupal, with a few in WordPress and SiteCore (I drastically prefer Drupal, for obvious reasons.)

Ok. It's second Wednesday soon, so join us for #PDXDUG. This month we're talking Search API best practices with Greg Boggs; we might even get to hear how Elasticsearch works into the fiber.
We'll have pizza at 6pm, sponsored by ThinkShout, and talks start around 6:30. Post meetup is probably a Lowbrau thing. Come enjoy.

It's time to start getting the second edition of Devsigner off the ground! If you're interested in helping organize, please comment here or get in touch with me (Mindewen) directly.
I'd like to have an initial planning meeting soon (next couple of weeks?), so once I have your name I'll send you a Doodle poll.
There will be opportunities ranging from team lead to floating helper, and any level of investment is welcome.

Read moreContent Recommendation System in Drupal
I will be presenting the first version of the content recommendation system I built for software.intel.com, a large Drupal 7 site.
The bulk of the presentation will be about content recommendation systems and our specific implementation. The Drupal portion of the project is a small piece of the puzzle (loading a JSON file from Amazon S3 via AJAX in a block).
I could also present this at the DUG if there is interest.
From the Meetup:

Sorry for the short notice this month. As you probably know I (aprohl5) will be running the frontend meetup now as of mindewen's "retirement" last week.

After a little more than two years running our Drupal frontend meetup, I need to take a break. I still enjoy the group and I don't want to get to the point where I resent it.
It would be great to keep it running, because I think it's been an asset to our community. So I can continue helping out in a support/advisory role if someone else would manage finding topics and speakers, make announcements, and kick off the meetups.
If one of you wonderful people wants to step in, awesome, let's keep on doing cool stuff. If not, we'll suspend the meetups for the time being.

Calling all homebrewers! Want to help add a unique, community touch to the summit party? Show off your brewing skills by donating your home-brewed beer to the event. We are looking for donations of 5-10 gallons of beer from each brewer. The beer may be in bottles or in kegs (ball/pin/sankey connectors all OK). Contact Tyler Ward, @twardnw or twardnw in IRC (#drupal-pnw or #drupal-pdx), to express interest.

Read moreDrupal Developer Survey
I am trying to figure out how many female Drupal developers we have here in Portland and would appreciate your help. I am also interested in companies that might not have any female Drupal developers at all to see if there's any pattern to it. Fill out this survey (http://bit.ly/pdxdugsurvey) if you know of a company that has Drupal developers.
Here's the criteria:
- the company has to have physical location in Portland, OR metro area
- if the company has no physical location anywhere in the world (think Lullabot) but has developers in PDX it is included as well
Losing my mind with tokens
I am super stuck on a token issue and any pointers would be much appreciated!
I am using pathauto to build my nested taxonomy term URLs which needs [node:field-tags:parents:join-path] and am having a problem on my main site vs my default install testing site.
I on the bare bones testing site I have pathauto and Entitiy Tokens installed and see [node:field-tags:parents:join-path] in replacenet patterns for pathauto in tokens for nodes:
