Drupal Frontend Meetup - April 2015 - Cancelled
Would you attend the May PDX meetup group that falls during DrupalCon LA?
April Brewpal
Join us for the April edition of Brewpal! On the fourth Tuesday of each month, we get together to work on projects, ask questions of our fellow Drupalers and have a pint.
As you may know, this year we've been rotating the venue of the Brewpal meetup. The criteria includes free wi-fi, a large public space that's family friendly, bar service (rather than table service), all while being close-in and easy to get to by public transit. This month we're bringing it back to the original location at the Lucky Lab in NW Portland. (1945 NW Quimby St).

Metro has just released RFP 2967 On call web professional services.

This RFP is now posted on ORPIN (Oregon Procurement Information Network). To view contracting opportunities, your firm must be registered with ORPIN. Please see https://jobs.drupal.org/metro/job/9517 for how to register on ORPIN and submit a proposal.

The Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition has issued the attached RFP to redevelop a custom-built CMS-driven website and add CRM functionality to the back end. This is more complicated than the average non-profit site due to a database and interface through which different kinds of users contribute and retrieve geographically specific observations of plants, animals, etc. More detail and contact information are available in the RFP. Please follow up with questions (and probably schedule an initial phone call soon) if you're interested.

Join us next Wednesday, April 8th for a diverse round of Lightning Talks. This meetup is hosted at the Metal Toad offices downtown at 522 SW 5th Ave Suite 400. Come at 6pm, eat some pizza, socialize, and we'll get the talks started around 6:30.
A lightning talk is the "quick and dirty" presentation of a concept in 5 minutes or less. It gets right to the point and holds no punches! If you feel so inclined, talk about anything Drupal related -- development, your toolbox, management, or about a project you were involved with -- no holds barred. Just keep it to 5 minutes.

Read moreMigrate Module experience?
Does anyone have experience using the Migrate module or Feeds module to migrate CCK file fields from a Drupal 6 site to a Drupal 7 site?
We currently use the Feeds module to partially handle this file transfer requirement, but Feeds does not natively handle a file's Title field. We also use the Migrate module to pull in most other node data from D6 to D7, but Migrate does not seem to handle CCK file fields out of the box.
Read moreTraining Options in Portland Area
We are looking for any training that might be available in the Portland area. We are fairly new to Drupal (installed it and played with it a bit) and would like some live training where discussions of scenarios and implementation options would be welcome. Training would ideally need to be either on-site, or at least local here in the PDX region. This is a corporate environment, so it would not be a viable option to enroll in a long-term course (what I have seen described by Epicodus). We are looking for about a week of training for 2 people (maybe 3) with follow-up options available.

After lots of discussion, both online here and in person at various meetups, I've decided to branch the PDX DUG out every once in awhile and allow shops around town to offer us their offices to host a meetup.
This month ThinkShout has generously offered not only to host the meetup at their offices, but will also be sponsoring the food and refreshments. Thanks ThinkShout!
For this month's topic, Sheldon Kreger will be talking about Amazon's Elastic Beanstalk service:
