Drupal global sprint days
March 9-10 are the Drupal global sprint days! Sprints will be taking place around the world this weekend, and I would love to see us hold one in Portland! Can anyone volunteer office space? Centrally located would be ideal so that we can manage food easily. I would be focused on CMI sprinting but others could focus on other topics if they wanted. Docs, front end, modules. The sky is the limit!

FOSDEM https://fosdem.org/2013/ is in Brussels next weekend and I was wondering if anyone from Portland would be going? If so, would you mind carrying some awesome new Drupal stickers with you on behalf of the Drupal Association?
Thanks!

Bring your laptops to this meetup because we'll be installing Sublime Text 2 (if you haven't got it already) and learning some tips, tricks, shortcuts, and plugins that can make coding more efficient, including Emmet (Zen coding) and Git integration. Evan Lovely will do the main presenting, though if you have your own tips and lessons to share please bring them!
We look forward to seeing you there!

Way Out West will resume tonight from 6-7pm at Serverlogic at 9020 SW Washington Sq Road, Suite 120 in the large conference room on the first floor, just past the elevators.
We are in One Embassy Centre building adjacent to Embassy Suites. Free parking is available in the building parking garage or parking lot. Access the building via SW Hall then Eliander St or via Scholls Ferry then Washington Sq Road. Check your map, it's a little confusing for first-time visitors.
Our format for Way Out West is to watch a Drupal-related video, usually from a DrupalCon and discuss as a group.

January Portland User Group Meetup
Hooray, we all survived the Mayan not-a-pocalypse and can enjoy another year of awesome Drupal meetups! As usual, the meetup will take place at the OpenSourcery office (1636 NW Lovejoy St).
I know a couple people have casually mentioned some presentation topics, but since we're just coming out of the holidays, nothing's been confirmed. If you'd like to present, post a comment below.
We'll also have a short presentation from Holly Ross, the Drupal Association's new executive director, about her goals and vision for the DA and the Drupal community.

Background
Back in April, a handful of us from the Git team set out to create functional tests to tell us if Drupal.org is working as expected when new features are developed and before new code is deployed.
We had the great good fortune to start this project when CapGemini offered the Drupal community three Drupal developers full time for six months. It was my privilege to work closely with these talented and motivated individuals to implement a comprehensive set of tests. We could not have come nearly so far as we have without them.

Assuming the Mayanpocalypse doesn't happen on Friday, we'll be heading into a new year of Portland Drupal meetups! And new years always spark some resolutions and reevaluations. As the new torch bearer/organizer, I'm interested in hearing what you love or don't like about meetups, ideas to make them more awesome and any topics that you absolutely want to hear about in 2013.

Hey, front-end friends! Last meetup we briefly talked about doing a jQuery-focused meetup, but after discovering several of our key presenters would be out of town for the holidays, we decided a just-as-fun alternative would be show and tell your favorite theming module.
So, bring a module that helps you with theming - one or two that you find yourself installing over and over. EDIT: If you have code snippets you find yourself using a lot, bring those, too! We'll each take a minute or so to give a general overview, compile a list of them, then install and try out the modules that interest us.
Bonus points if you put the module and a link to it / its documentation in the comments here.

We're going to have Wednesday's user group meeting focused on devops with a dive into Vagrant/Puppet.
Greg Lund-Chaix, Jeff Graham, and I will be talking about the various ways Vagrant & Puppet can make your life easier between development and production. I'll start with a very light intro about how to replace MAMP/XAMPP with Vagrant/Puppet and Greg and Jeff will demo some deeper concepts.
Also cool: Puppet Labs is sending over a few folks to hang out and provide more info on Puppet. Should be fun!

Hi All!
Just wanted to extend an invitation to The 6th Annual Winter Coders' Social and Potluck!
Where all different kinds of User Groups in Portland get together to meet each other and mingle. A friend from the Python users group forwarded this info to me. Thought I would share...
Let's get some Drupal representation there! Hope to see you there!

Responsive Theming: Foundation, Bootstrap, or Omega?
Messing around with responsive theming and was wondering...what's the best (preferred?) approach to developing a responsive Drupal 7 site?
- Foundation?
- Bootstrap?
- Sub-theme Omega? [http://drupal.org/project/omega]
We've been talking about this a lot in front-end meetups and also in the Portland Drupal meetup.
Thoughts? Preferences?
Read moreDecember meetup suggestion: Ditching MAMP/XAMP for Vagrant/Puppet
Hi all,
I haven't presented in a long time and I'm just starting to play around with the amazing virtualization tool called Vagrant. I'd love to do a 15-20 minute presentation on how beginner-to-intermediate Drupalers can ditch MAMP/XAMPP and easily run a full LAMP stack that is sharable between a team.
We'll definitely need another presenter as well, but if you all will have me I'd like to start December's meetup with Vagrant.
