Drupal 7.15 and Work Orders or Work management
Hi folks,
New to Drupal, I have a site up but it's in pieces right now. Still learning how to organize it. I have a need though to have site users that are approved by me to enter in a work order with light weight features and work management features as well. I am sure there is many ways to do this. Can someone help and or send me a link to a Drupal site that this is already being implemented?
Cheers!

This question is just to kind of spark some intuition and thoughts in my mind for this process.
Essentially, I have a client that wants to create a form (with a series of checkboxes, text fields, etc.) that will be editable for users (authenticated) in the Drupal 7 platform. This is a "wellness challenge" so each week (for 10 weeks) the user will fill out this form.
Specs:
- Needs to be scheduled to be available to each week - but close submissions at a specific time (thinking Rules...?)

Read morePDX Drupal and open source goodness up for auction now for Street Roots
Hello all,
I wanted to thank and call out the PDX Drupal and open source community for their support of Street Roots during our annual online fundraising auction, and call attention to some of the awesomeness available--basically, everything needed for one to get up and running as a good Drupal Open Source Citizen. I'm posting here because I think this is relevant to the community and supports both the PDX open source community as well as Street Roots.
I want to specifically call attention to a few things we have up for auction right now (ending 4pm on Sunday Oct 7):
- Drupal 7 in a Day training by lz411 and OpenSourcery
- Two-day Site Building in Drupal 7 training by lz411 and OpenSourcery
- Quality Assurance for Drupal Sites training by lz411 and OpenSourcery
- One hour of Drupal consultation with jhedstrom
- One 2013 Open Source Bridge Conference Pass (by Stumptown Syndicate)
- One year of wind-powered hosting by Canvas Dreams
- Event Planning for Geeks: a Stumptown Syndicate handbook (I have this, and it is quality. I wished we'd had it before planning DrupalCamp09 and PNWDS!)
Still need speakers for October
We're still looking for people to share with us during the October user group meeting. Does anyone have anything they'd like to talk about?
Update, 10/10:
Wednesday, Oct 10 lineup looks like this:
- jyee talking about flags + cart
- ryanmiglavs with awesome donation form
- bleedev talkin' bout beans
October 7 - Last day to vote in DA elections
There's an announcement on the front page of groups.drupal.org, but I wanted to make sure that no one missed their opportunity to vote in the upcoming Drupal Association elections.
I'm know at least a few Portland community members have a message or two for the DA -- here's a chance to choose community-minded representatives to help represent! Last day to vote is Sunday, October 7.

Read moreQuality Assurance for Drupal Sites
As a site builder entering the seventh year of doing QA for Drupal sites, I am so excited to offer for this course!
Course Description:
Never again tell someone to "click around and make sure everything's working" after you perform a security update or spend hours working through a tedious spreadsheet to make sure a routine update hasn't broken your site. Behat and Mink provide a flexible and robust acceptance testing framework to help you deploy new features and security updates with confidence.
Site Building with Drupal 7
Participants will be brought up to speed on Drupal and leave ready to tackle their own project!
This course is suitable for users who are new to Drupal and for those who want to cultivate their Drupal skills. Participants will also review Drupal's block system and use taxonomy to categorize their content. If you are new to both building websites and to Drupal, Drupal in a Day is strongly recommended as a prerequisite for this course.

Way Out West Drupal Movie Night Suggestions
The Way Out West Drupal Group meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 6-7pm at Serverlogic in Tigard, OR.
This month, we will be having a Drupal Movie night, featuring a video from DrupalCon Denver 2012.
Please vote in the comments for your choice of video or suggest an alternative! The selections I made for this month are geared toward gaining a fuller understanding of Drupal as a whole and how to get involved. But future presentations may tackle more technical subjects. We'll have time for approximately an hour of video, more or less, depending on pauses for discussion.

Hey all,
We've come a long way in our understanding of Behavior-Driven Development since May when the user group helped out by writing scenarios to describe Drupal.org features.
We're 100 feature files into a test suite. We have over 300 reliable scenarios with 1300 steps testing multiple file uploads, autocomplete dropdowns, git permissions and everything in between.
On Tuesday, September 18 beginning at 10am and running until 5pm, we'll be gathering at the OSU Foundation in downtown Portland to:
- review existing tests for robustness (and improve them)
- identify missing tests (and write them)
- improve documentation
Location:
Union Bank Building
707 SW Washington Street, Suite 500
Portland OR 97205-3522
http://goo.gl/maps/KfMdk
Tentative Schedule:
- 9 - 10am - Show up early if you need help setting up your system to run tests.
- 10 - 11am - Project status; Feature file checklist (how to write great features and scenarios)
- 11 - 12:30pm - Testing the tests, describing new features, improving documentation
- 12:30 - 1:30pm Lunch
- 1:30 - 4:00pm - Testing the tests, describing new features, improving documentation

Read moreList your mentors on your Drupal.org profile
This afternoon, the core contributor folks added a field to Drupal.org that lets you list your Drupal mentors on your profile.
It seems like one way of uncovering how people become involved with Drupal, and a pretty neat one at that. If you're interested in sharing that information with the community, you'll find it by following the link "Logged in as [your username]", clicking Edit, and clicking Drupal on the green bar. I imagine somewhere down the road, there will be some great data visualizations.
