Complete the rest of this scenario:
A producer at Denver Open Media wants to do a live 28:30 minute program from the studio.
So they go to the DOM web site and under their project click on Create Reservation, and reserve Studio A.
Since they can't schedule this switched event through the OMP Create Show, what happens next?
How do they reserve the air time? And schedule that?
Ann
Right now, they have to ask Ann and she has to schedule it, whether the show is just a one-off or a weekly event.
I see some value in enabling our members to reserve broadcast slots for live studio productions without Ann's involvement, but it may cause as many problems as it solves, and it might be one of those things that should still be done by an admin. Anyone who had a strong need for this could add that patch to the scheduling module... even an add-on with Studio reservations could culminate in that option.
Whatever your first issue of concern, media had better be your second, because without change in the media, the chances of progress in your primary area are far less likely. http://denveropenmedia.org
live scheduling
Allowing producers to choose between scheduling a live switch or a playback event in their own series timeslot could be beneficial. We do have many producers who alternate between live and playback. However if they aren't really on top of keeping their live switches up to date and they no show or cancel a studio show we will end up with dead air.
I think an ideal workflow would be that producers have a playback event running in their slot until they actually show up to use the studio. Then, when they are physically here they would log into the system and switch themselves live. Or perhaps it could be tied to MERCI in some way so that when they show up to check out the studio and microphones they could opt to go live in their own timelsot?
