We've been talking about this for a long time now, but we're FINALLY scheduling a cooperative event to develop the Drupal Indy Website. This event was initially scheduled for August 28, but has been rescheduled for September 18th. It will be from 1-4(ish)
The goals of this site is to provide a resource for the local community, promote local companies with Drupal sites, and promote local talent. With this in mind, here's what we came up with for the project spec from our weekly meetings.
-
Local Drupal Sites - This will be a series of screen shots of the website. Owners will have the option of writing a short summary of the work that was done for them, and dev companies will be referenced.
-
Local Talent - everyone is welcome to create a profile on the new website. There will be a taxonomy set up for selecting your skill-sets, a place to promote your resume and social network links, and you will be able to create a list of highlighted past projects that you have been involved in with a short writeup of what your role was.
-
Resources - Certain members of the group will be able to promote blog posts to the site. We are requiring a submit/approval process to ensure quality and relevance of posts. As we develop some good drupal posts, we would like to promote a feed to Planet Drupal, but there will be a flagging system in place to ensure that users who are already being promoted will not get pushed 2x on accident.
-
Google Apps - we will be setting up a google apps account for the group as well. We will initially use this to create a calendar and ical feed that can be fed to other sites.
Neil is PM of the development group. I will be the PM of the theming. We will have tasks for beginners and veterans alike, so ALL are welcome!
If this project goes well, we would like to reach out to local charities and do similar projects for the community on a regular basis.
