You've noticed that everyone is moving to Drupal. Even the President did it (whitehouse.gov is now a Drupal site!). So now you're thinking about coming over to Drupal also, but are unsure if and how all the years of content, users, functionality etc on your current non-Drupal website can be transferred to a Drupal site.
We'll dedicate the entire January Dallas Drupal meeting to the topic of "Migrating to Drupal".
- how do I match the functionality of my current CMS in Drupal?
- how do I move my userbase over?
- how do I move my content over?

We are taking over a corner of the Flying Saucer in Addison. The food is great and Monday night is pint night. All pints $2.75.

New theme project: Celadon
Hello everyone,
Well, after 2+ years of participating primarily (exclusively?) on the receiving end of the Drupal project, I'm finally giving back. My first contribution, Celadon, was recently accepted as a Drupal theme project. Despite some frustrations learning the intricacies of Drupal CVS, a project page has been created (equipped with the requisite issue queue!) and an initial development snapshot is now available for download.

Two great presentations:
David Hahn - Drupal for Mobile devices - You just finished your latest fantastic Drupal site and it looks stunning on your 24" widescreen monitor. But pull it up on your iPhone and all you see is a really colorful blurry mess? Learn different ways of detecting mobile devices that visit your Drupal site and displaying information better formatted for those devices. We'll go through a real case study, step by step.
Tom McCracken - Drupal and Workflow

Tom McCracken will be presenting on Geoblogging:
Geoblogging is one of the hottest trend in the citizen journalism revolution. Tools for the roving citizen journalist are evolving rapidly. Flickr, YouTube and many other services enable you to geotag your photos, videos and blog posts. Come learn how you can integrate all this content with geo location information into a geoblogging Drupal site.
We'll also have "Lightning Talks" for some collaborative learning, and some good Drupal times!!!

Now Playing Functionality
I am a Vista volunteer assigned to a community radio station in Dallas. I don't think that the 'staff' of the station will do what is required to really use the station module after I leave, but I do want to offer the 'now playing' functionality for them?
I have a 'schedule' of shows that has a day (text format) and time (time and date format), and I think what I'd want is a block which asked/displayed:
If today is Monday...select Monday from Schedule
select Now (time) and display show that has that time slot ???
September Dallas Drupal Group Meeting - Monday Sept 21st
We are excited to have a new location for the Dallas Drupal group meetings! LevelTen has moved to new offices, and just in time since our group meetings have been a little crowded the past few months!
September meeting will be at...well I don't the exact address but as soon as I get it I'll update this post! It is at 75 and Fitzhugh.
Tom McCracken will be presenting on Workflow in Drupal, and showing the workflow solution they put in place for a client recently- a great topic for beginners and pros! And we'll have "Lighting Talks" after that so should be a great meeting!

Many are still recovering from the sold-out and jam-packed weekend that was DrupalCamp Dallas 2009. Over 100 developers, users, and business owners curious about the Drupal open source platform gathered in Dallas the first weekend of August for two days of Drupal! Here is what some of the attendees said...

Building on the success of our classroom-based training in Los Angeles, California (US), this online course will gently introduce you to Drupal as we build a neighborhood association website. The course is presented in a series of modules that will introduce a concept, and then implement the concept in Drupal. This course is intended for individuals who have basic familiarity with building a web page or blogging; no programming experience or experience with Drupal is assumed or necessary.

Our first meeting after DrupalCamp! We'll have a lot to talk about, and planning to have beginner and advanced group sessions. Advanced topic will be Patches & CVS. Dustin Currie, developer at LevelTen Interactive, will talk about contributing to Drupal, creating patches, and committing to CVS. Beginner Drupalers, come with questions and ask the experienced and expert Drupal users what you're having trouble with or want to learn more about. The last hour will be a lightning talk where you can present and discuss projects, modules, or whatever you're working on with the whole group.

Hello friends, I've come to beg...or at least ask. I just moved down from Nashville, and wonder if anyone has a working xp machine with at least 1 meg or ram hiding out in their closet that they'd like to sell or donate?
I am an Americorps/Peace Corps volunteer assigned to KNON community radio, and need a machine for the DJ's in the studio to twitter with. They used to have wireless access in there, but one of the dj laptops downloaded a virus that got to the station's network, and all h*** broke loose.

Awesome, awesome DrupalCamp everyone! Many thanks again to our sponsors, speakers, volunteers...and to YOU for coming and making it such an incredible weekend!
If you enjoyed it as much as I did, could you do something for us? We need some quotes from you about DrupalCamp Dallas. We will use these quotes for a "wrap-up" article on DrupalCampDallas.org and also use them next year when we promote DrupalCamp Dallas 2010!!!
Read moreNon-Profits and Drupal
I work at channelAustin, a non-profit 501(c)(3) in Austin that is embracing Drupal. Our current web site is a Drupal site. More importantly, we are partners in the Open Media Project and are working collaboratively with other community television stations nationally on Drupal-based tools and are establishing a new channelAustin site. My wife is a board member of a non-profit, the Save Barton Creek Association, and they have recently converted their web site to Drupal. I’m aware of a handful of other Austin non-profits using Drupal, such as Texas Impact. Within the broader open source community in Austin, there is definitely a connection to non-profits and within that connection there are Drupal developers and implementers. It’s not hard to find reports on Drupal and non-profits, like Drupal for Nonprofits, or, How to Build Social Networks for Change and How Drupal Will Save The World. I periodically learn about large national non-profits that have made the switch to Drupal.

I'm here at DrupalCamp Dallas. It's great. And I shouldn't be enticing anyone to leave town head south to Austin. But . . . if you're a Dallas drupalista itchin' to get out of town for awhile, there's a cool job in Austin for the right person.

Since we recently changed our group website from www.DrupalJedi.com to www.DallasDrupal.org, and with DrupalCamp Dallas coming up this weekend, I figured it was time for a new look for our groups.drupal.org site! As you can see, this new site showcases the events more prominently, and the emphasis in on the community- you! A bit limited on what I could do with the site, but hopefully everyone likes the new look.
