Since we started as a user's group in 2004 or so, the people, Drupal and the economy around Drupal has sprouted, bloomed and is now in a mature state. As such, our function as a group should also evolve. Please join as we grow to meet your Drupal career needs.

Mayor Faulconer is seeking input on San Diego's digital presence. If you live in the city go to

Since we are all knowledgeable and have a certain predilection for non-proprietary systems it is important that we weigh in on the issues to make this the best website revision our city has seen, and perhaps a model nationwide.

The San Diego Drupal User Group meets at Co-merge coworking space [http://www.co-merge.com/] downtown, 330 A St, San Diego, CA 92101. Sage Tree will bring pizza to sustain us.
This month we have two topics:
- Best Practices: Hacking Core (yikes!), putting PHP into theme, when it is OK to make direct SQL calls, etc. We will make this a roundtable discussion led by Rich Yumul. We know some attendees have strong opinions and sparks will certainly fly.
- Going Retro with Social Sharing - moving social out of the frontend. Christoph Weber will show a few things BIZX has done lately to simplify social sharing.
