Our HTML5 OpenPublish Rebuild

We've just finished the first stage of our new HTML5 themed site on OpenPublish and thought it might be of interest to the group.

The reason for the change was initially because we wanted to strip down our OP site, as the only real features which we were using actively was the OpenCalais, Authors and Events function, however we could replicate that (except for OpenCalais which is still in dev) on D7, however we encountered too many errors when trying to export/import all of our nodes/url aliases etc.

Presenting Media in Drupal - Dallas Drupal Days 2011 presentation

For those interested, I just completed a talk at the Dallas Drupal Days conference here in Dallas TX where I talked about presenting media in Drupal 7. I recorded this video so that anybody who did not attend can watch it. This presentation goes over the awesome combination of Drupal 7 + Media module + MediaFront and HTML5 multimedia within Drupal 7.

Core template conversion methodology - cart before the horse?

The way we have been approaching changes to core templates has, at least afaict, been a piecemeal affair - we change one or two templates at a time working through the various markup issues until such time as we have some broad consensus and ta da, here's our new template.

This bottom-up-esque methodology seems reasonable because we we are not overhauling the entire system at any one time and are just looking to adjust or tweak parts of it.

I think this has worked OK in the past, however I tend to think this methodology has a few drawbacks.

HTML5 Offline Content Generator

I am looking for a way to generate the code needed to provide a way to view selected web pages on a portable device without a continuous internet connection.

After looking at a number of possibilities, the offline capabilities of html5 seem to be the best solution. This would require the creation of a manifest file for the pages. The specification for this file and its use are available here:

(Note, there is no official affiliation with VanDUG or Drupal)

From the description:

A 1-2 punch for progressive form enhancement

Hello everyone, sorry if you've seen this before but I just came across this today and it was new to me:

using the techniques described in this article: http://css-tricks.com/progressively-enhancing-html5-forms/ ... we could progressively enhance html5 form fields without needing to load extra javascript files that we won't need to use for all cases.

Even if the specific techniques outlined in the article aren't the way we'd want to do it, maybe some of these ideas are worth including?

Boron (HTLM5 base theme)

Curious if anyone in the group has used the Boron theme? Sounds like this might be a good theme to be working with especially when HTML5 becomes common place on browsers. http://drupal.org/project/boron
