Pretty new to OG "ecosystem", have one question for more experienced:

What is the best way to display group pages without Panels?
My reasons are that personally do not like Panels also it is too heavy for current project, also saw some screencasts - most are made for 6.x or 7.1 and there are some differences & small annoying bugs.

So, my first thought is to use some module to attach view to group content type and use Display Suite.

Is it the correct way?

What are the alternatives?

Lest assume, that I am building groups.drupal.org clone.

Hi,

I was looking for a way to retrieve a custom field from a group in a view?

For example, I have my Group content type in which I added a custom field (say the «Group Color» field).

Then, I wanted to build a view in which I could show the current node's group «Group Color» field. I was able to retrieve the current node's group ID, but not the custom field.

I built the view showing any type of node and used the OG Groups relationships to ge the current node's group ID.

Anybody has an Idea on how to do this?

I'm using OpenAtrium, I think it's 1.0, but not sure.

I need a user with special profile to access a node into a group without being group member. Is that possible?

In short my code gives groups and "my_content_type" a grant called "my_realm" with gid 1.
hook_node_grants() gives each user with "my_special_role" a grant called "my_realm" with gid 1.

As far as I know that should give access user to node, isn't it?

Vereis, estoy tratando de configurar OG en Drupal 7 para hacer lo siguiente:
El superadministrador registra a un usuario y le dá un rol como "Administrador de grupo". Este administrador de grupo, puede a su vez, registrar a otros usuarios pero solo puede registrarlos dentro de su propio grupo, además esta operación debería ser automática.
Todos los grupos comparten el mismo tipo de contenidos, pero los usuarios y los contenidos publicados en un determinado grupo no deben ser visibles para los usuarios de otros grupos.
¿Como puede hacerse esto? ¿Alguna idea?

Now hoping that my CFL peeps won't let me down (like those crickets over at Views group). I have tried this so many different ways, I am all turned around in my head, on it. Site is suppose to launch in a few days. Until this is sorted out, themers can't theme that page, either.

Anyone willing to spend a paid hour to help me sort it out? Will gladly throw in begging. (Probably very easy for someone with advanced Views experience, and who hasn't stared at this for way too long.)

USE CASE:

Hi Folks.

In Rules 2, I'm trying to work out how to assign all users of a role (Manager) to be members of every OG group of a certain content type (Company). Ideally I'd like this to happen when ever a new 'Company' node is created but would settle for a cron based trigger if I have to.

Does anyone have any pointers as to how I might achieve this?

Triggering a rule on node creation and adding a condition to check the content type is pretty easy. It's the rest that I'm a little fuzzy on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I consistently get this error when trying to create a new group in D7.
When I try to add a public group... I get this error ( but the group is still added...)

Har sökt men utan att finna, undrar om det finns något sätt att koppla samman användarroller med behörighet till vissa og-grupper?

Jag skulle vilja att de som har en viss användarroll kan se och gå med i alla grupper som vi skapat i og (förutom dolda grupper) medan användare med en annan användarroll bara kan se och gå med i vissa utvalda grupper. Någon som vet om och hur man kan lösa det? Någon färdig modul kanske?

Essentially I want to duplicate the sitewide messaging notification functionality the private messages module. Instead, I want this clickable message (that takes an OG member to the post) to persist until a new comment or node in a specific OG is read by a member of that group. Then it disappears. Is this possible with the rules module?

I can easily create a sitewide message that doesn't persist, but how would you keep it present just for each OG member until it is read?

If this isn't doable with rules, is anyone aware of a module with this functionality?
