community media

This is not too off-topic, I trust. Using CiviCRM I've built an online database of U.S. community access television providers and LPFM radio stations - http://communitymediadatabase.org . The records can be searched by logged-in users, and updated by authorized provider representatives. This is a 3-month pilot project, funded by the Benton Foundation, and will be demonstrated at the NCMR conference in Boston next month. We've sent out the email below to all the access providers in the database, informing of them of the project and their ability to log in and update their records.

My session is one of the finalists for FreePress.net's National Conference for Media Reform in Boston, but I need YOUR vote to help it make the final list.

The conference will focus on media reform, media policy and media activism, and will be an important opportunity to promote Drupal the Open Media Project, Open Source and Community Media to the many local and national attendees.

We have an alpha release ready of VoiceBox, our Knight Drupal Initiative project -

The project is a community media/feed aggregator/news space/conversation space. A high level run down of the featureset includes:

• Customizable user profiles;
• Discussions with embedded images, audio, and video;
• Publishing pictures, audio, and video via mobile devices and/or email;
• Content aggregation via rss;

Tony Shawcross, Suzanne St. John-Crane, and Sue Buske presented in Berkeley yesterday about DIVCA (statewide CATV franchising in California). It was truly eye-opening for me.
Tony inadvertently gave us a preview of the new CivicPixel/DOM site yesterday - looks good!!

This is happening tomorrow, March 1, 10:00am to 6:00pm in the Texas Union at UT.

Texas Community Media to Hold Summit in Austin

Austin, TX – The Texas Community Media Summit, hosted by channelAustin (aka Public Access Community Television), Dallas iMedia Network, Houston Media Source, and the Texas Media Empowerment Project will take place at 10 am on Saturday, March 1, at the University of Texas at Austin’s Texas Union. Organizers expect 150 to 200 people from across the state.

I'm interested in working with others to explore Drupal and Video with a goal of developing a meet-up presentation on this topic.

I don't want to define it too much here, because I'd rather this be a collaborative effort. For now, I'm curious of the registered users in this group, who among us are interested in video.

The modules listed below are in some way useful for video. I've not used or tested any of them. This is what I'm interested in doing as well as finding others here who may have experience already.
