Directory

I have been creating a drupal site, www.findinjp.com, for over a year now and I am finally liking the way it functions and the content types, etc. The only problem I have now, is HOW TO DISPLAY/ORGANIZE the content. My goal is to have thousands and thousands of listings but I have no idea using Drupal how to display this content in a organized manner.

I was hoping someone here with experience would be able to help me out.

So, here is what is special about a church directory, families. In a business directory you just have one entity and their listing. In a church directory you may have 5 or 6 people, each with their own unique account, needing to be displayed as one entry.

What you really need is a block with a family photo, then names of each person, then contact info. What to do...

So, I have a website for a church. Each person (adult and children) have their own account.

I need to build a directory, with photos. This would be easy for a company directory, but we need 'family' photos to be available here and persons grouped together.

My initial idea goes something like this: create "family" nodes using address as the unifying data. And, that's about as far as I've gotten. I really can't wrap my head around how to do this. Please help me brainstorm!

I've followed this group for awhile, because I have created a lot of business directories outside of Drupal, and have wondered if it could be done easier and quicker within Drupal and it's vast amount of contrib modules. Well, I think it can, now that I do 90% of website development work in Drupal.

I would like to be able to sort the Groups Directory by number of subscribers, so that I can easily view a list of the most active/popular groups. Can anyone to make this happen?
