Next Month’s Meetup

RSVPs are open and presentations are posted for next month’s meetup on Feb 5. Thank you to Boyle Software for providing the venue and to Pantheon for sponsoring food and drink!

Last meetup we had over forty no-shows who prevented over a dozen people on the waitlist from attending. Venue capacity is limited so please be considerate by cancelling your RSVP at least 48 hours prior if you no longer plan to attend to allow those on the waitlist to do so.

DCNYC10: Thank you for joining us...here's what's next!

Was that fun or what?

Saturday's DrupalCampNYC 10 was a blast, and our biggest so far! Nearly 400 of us converged on John Jay College for a day of Drupal learning and hanging out, and the activity on Twitter was very cool to see.

Now that the sessions are done and the mountain of bottled water is put away, what happens next?

DrupalCamp NYC 7 - Let's start the ball rolling

Following an inspiring evening at Drupal Beers, it seems a good time to start thinking about the next New York DrupalCamp. The last one was at the end of February, so if we are to have it six months later that would be late August/early September. DrupalCon Paris is the 1st - 5th of September.

Awesome Drupal Unconference

DrupalCamp5 was the most different technical conference I've ever attended. Its "unconference" style was really community-centric and was what made it really unique, IMHO. Like all the conferences I had attended (I had gone to events as large as the ones held at the Jacob Javits Center), DrupalCamp was very informative, yet I found that I took away uncharacteristically large amount of imformation and knowledge that "sticks". It was by far the most productive conference I had ever been at, for my own personal purpose, that is. I think it was due to its unique community-centric style.

Dojo Lesson #4 -- Great Contrib Modules

Start:
2007-01-22 03:00 - 05:30 Etc/GMT-8

Drupal DojoNote: Video is compressing, will be up later tonight.

I'm back on to teach another Dojo Lesson this Sunday at 11am PST (2PM EST, 4PM Buenos Ares, 8PM Belgium/Hungary). Topic is TBA, but see the great wiki page Matt Koglin pulled together and let's start a comment thread on it.

I'm open to doing a more high-level beginner-friendly session after last week's dive into NodeAPI. I'm also open to doing a practical "how do I make a site do xyz" type lesson. Once it's decided I'll edit this event node to include the topic and we can collect pre-reading, etc, as per usual.

Join us in #drupal-dojo on IRC, and on skype #+99001110025448968. You can also see my screen here.

Two other points to note:

  • Greggles has stepped up in the IRC room to lead a session on how to use CVS to manage an official Drupal project. Awesome! He will be leading Lesson #5 on Sunday the 27th. [edit: see and edit the lesson plan wiki]
  • SamTressler has offered to set up a session at Drupal Camp NYC where the Dojo lesson will be projected and people can take part; an exciting real/virtual world crossover!
