Is it possible to update modules in multi-site setup without having to go to update.php for each site?
We are using Drupal at a University and are using a multi-site setup. When it comes time to update modules, I'm guessing we would have to run update.php on each site of the multi-site install. Is it possible to update modules in multi-site setup without having to go to update.php for each site?

Hi everyone,
I exactly followed intructions explained here: http://drupal.org/node/125539
Except, i used SSH symlink instead of multisite.php trick:
ln -s ./drupalsite ./subdomain1
This symlink only creates shortcuts for all files and folders of drupalsite(original drupal installation) in subdomain1(new multisite). When i navigate subdomain1 it takes me to drupalsite not to subdomain1's install page. If i navigate subdomain1/install.php, i get a 404 error. When i look at subdomain1 folder via FTP program i see the same files and folders as drupalsite folder.
Social Networking with Drupal
Hello, I am new to Drupal and am looking to build a social networking site with it. I have 6.0 installed along with several modules, but Im not really sure the best way to make them all work together. If there is anyone out there that can recommend the best modules and possibly point me in the right direction for getting started, it would be much appreciated. Thanks

I am the back-end engineer/architect working on consolidating a number of production web sites using Drupal 5.11 with the Drupal Memcache API as a base along with the multi-site configuration.
Here's the architecture so far...
- 2-node load balancer front-end (2 Cisco ASA 5510s)
- 4-node web/app servers: RHEL 5 + GFS + Drupal Memcache API + Memcached (Quad Xeon, 8GB Ram each)
- 1-node MySQL 5.x database server with two other MySQL servers in hot stand-by mode (Quad Xeon, 16GB Ram each)
- EMC SAN Storage (1.5TB allocated)
Multiple Stations on a single site?
Any tips or warnings about setting up the station module on a single website which hosts information about 5 different radio stations? Can it be done or is it assumed that the station module only handles one station per install? Should I expected to need to install station across multiple 'sites' if I want to use it's features independently for each station?
Thanks for any insight.

Drupal 6.x - Shared Database
I've already read the discussion about D5 Shared database but didn't find a resumed classification for D6
Knowing which tables to share can be hard to figure out, so I would like some help on this.
The scenario:
- Intranet services developed by different individual which shouldn't interfere each other (so each developer has one D6 sandbox for each service which shouldn't interfere with others)
- Global user/roles/permission settings
- Modules/Themes can (probably will) differ from service to service
Multisite, single sign-on sans openID....any pointers?
I've got a client who is looking at having around 50 or so multisites, all different domains, but would like allow either a single sign on approach, i.e. signin once and automatically be authenticated across all the multisites, or have the same user/pwd but have to sign in, using that across sites, with shared profiles.
Any, semi secure way to do this without using OpenID?
I've taken a cursor look at this module, http://drupal.org/project/multisite_login, but we're on Drupal 6.
I've got the time/skillset to port it, but would prefer a proven solution over rolling my own.
thanks.

I have a few Drupal sites running from one code base and one database. The tables currently shared are Authmap, profile_fields, profile_values, role, sessions, users and users_roles.
I want the search to search all of the sites, can this be done by just sharing the search tables or is it more complex.

Read moreHow to most efficiently set up private client blogs using multisite?
I would like to set up private blogs for clients, each readable only by the client and myself. These blogs will be simple and identical, and far different from my main site installation. I'm running Drupal (6.3) on my top level domain (www.example.com). I've been reading for several hours, all kinds of solutions, and have settled on one which may work. I'd like to share my solution, and get your feedback and answers to a few points I'm not clear about. I'm not a Drupal noob, but I'm not exactly a programmer either, so simplest is best, as long as it gets the job done safely.
A. Will it work to set up a completely new installation of Drupal at clients.example.com, and set that up to run as a multisite without interfering with my main installation?
