This group is for everyone living in the DC metro area who's interested in Drupal. You can post here about anything relating to DC and Drupal, whether that's local job postings, events, or just a call out to talk shop over beers.
You can also find us in a couple of other places:
- Group on Meetup.com for events (they handle events better, with reminder emails and whatnot)
- Group on groups.drupal.org for discussions and job posts (that's here)
- #drupal-dc on freenode
- @DrupalDC on Twitter
We have a great meetup every month where we get together to connect in person. The target audience is Drupal developers, users, and people who want to learn more about Drupal. We start the meetups with a round of very focused lightning talks that discuss real world solutions to existing problems, new work people have done, and Drupal news. Some of these talks are about code, and some are not. We do ask that all presenters talk on a level that everyone - including non-developers - can follow. After the talks, we chat over beer, and maybe play a few games of foosball.
We're open to ways to improve the meetups and this group, so speak up if you have ideas!
DC Drupal Meetup #5

Since we missed out on seeing everyone last month, we've decided to up the ante for our next meetup. This time around, on July 26 at 7pm, Development Seed has graciously offered to buy the first round of beers at Bus Boys and Poets up on U street. Not only that, but they plan to talk about how

That's right folks, it's about time for another meetup!
This month we'll be meeting at the New America building in Dupont at 7pm. More central location with a later time. Directions, just north of Dupont circle. Plan on getting a few drinks afterwards :-)
New America has graciously offered their projector so we'll be able to certainly make use of that!
So what do people want to hear about?
If people are interested I can go over my link patch and explain how theming in Drupal 4.8 is going to be a lot easier, part 1 of many patches.

I really look forward to seeing everyone at the meetups. Glad to see everyone's picture on the site, too, very cool!
Bio Info:
I work under a couple different banners as an independant consultant. My primary concerns are a balance of platform implementation (Drupal), emergent media capability building(Creating Media), and increasing the commons (Contribution of Code and other resources back to the interweb community).
I consult to for-profit, not-for-profit, and independant foundations. As appropriate for leverage and long tail, I approach these organizations as a representative of a for-profit, not-for-profit, and independant foundation.

Update: - Postponed! We have decided to postpone our workshop till Aug 7th - 10th due to an overload of work and not enough time to put together the kick-ass program we originally intended. Still in DC, just a bit later, and even more kick-ass!
That's right folks, Lullabot is coming to DC! We're going to be having 2 workshops, the first being an introduction to Drupal and the 2nd being an indepth looking at theming in Drupal. Class sizes are kept small, only 20 people, so we can better accomodate each individual and their particular questions and needs. If you're interested, please sign up, registrations are going fast!

We'll be having our 3rd DC Drupal meetup this Thurs, 5-7pm at Murky Coffeehouse. To change things up a bit, I'm going to go over Drupal and theming, and give examples of sites that don't look like a Drupal install, along with showing the underlying code on how to achieve similar results (it's easier than you think!). If anyone wants to help co-pilot this talk, let me know. After this 30 min talk, we can break into our usual groups and just talk Drupal.
