Washington, DC Drupalers

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

This group is for everyone living in the DC metro area who's interested in Drupal. You can post here about anything relating to DC and Drupal, whether that's local job postings, events, or just a call out to talk shop over beers.

You can also find us in a couple of other places:

We have a great meetup every month where we get together to connect in person. The target audience is Drupal developers, users, and people who want to learn more about Drupal. We start the meetups with a round of very focused lightning talks that discuss real world solutions to existing problems, new work people have done, and Drupal news. Some of these talks are about code, and some are not. We do ask that all presenters talk on a level that everyone - including non-developers - can follow. After the talks, we chat over beer, and maybe play a few games of foosball.

We're open to ways to improve the meetups and this group, so speak up if you have ideas!

December Meetup in Silver Spring, MD

Start:
2007-12-02 13:00 - 16:00 America/New_York

OK, I've made an executive decision. :-) If this location/time doesn't work for everyone we can always schedule another. I'm certainly up for more than one meetup. So, this one will be on Sunday, December 2 at 1 p.m. at Mayorga Coffee in Silver Spring. Obviously it can last as long as people want to hang out.

December Meetup?

Have just been introduced to Drupal and am finding the learning curve a bit steep. Perhaps the lack of a 10000-ft view.

Other eager-but-clueless types in DC for a meetup?

The sooner the better.

Unable to contact Pierre Guillaume (pg) regarding Drupal Developer position at World Bank

I know this is not proper procedure, but every time I tried to contact Pierre Guillaume, the contact form tells me that the 3 contacts per hour limit has been reached, although I haven't contacted anyone at all...

It might be an error triggered by the fact that I do not have a groups.drupal.org account per se, but use my @drupal.org account to log in here (which also includes blank spaces "Carlos Miranda Levy" by the way).

In any case, Pierre, if you see this, contact me via my contact form here or at drupal.org:

August 29th Washington DC Meet-up - Half Priced Burgers at the Big Hunt!

Start:
2007-08-29 18:30 - 20:45 Etc/GMT

Sorry for the radio silence everyone. I kept hoping that I would find a cool new place to host the meetups. Ted, Justin, and I were chatting and figured it would be great to just get together, drink some beers, and share what we are all working on in a less formal setting. So for this time, there will be no presentation but we'll keep looking for a new venue.

Need help with a Drupal site.

Hi, everyone.

I am having a problem with a site that I set up a short while ago, http://www.make-a-statement.net. Other than having edited the blog module to make them private blogs, it's a standard 4.7 installation. What's happening is that the site is rejecting all non-admin logins, period, even when valid, and it's not allowing the admin user to gain access to the administrative functions. This is my livelihood, so if someone can help me out ASAP, I'd be very, very appreciative.

Washington, DC June Drupal Meetup

Start:
2007-01-06 05:00 - 07:00 Etc/GMT-5

Only local images are allowed.Let's cool off from the DC heat this coming Tuesday, June 5th, with some beers and catch up on what everyone has been working on. I know a lot of folks here in DC have been jamming on some awesome projects and we could all benefit from learning about them and sharing our own work.

I'm working on finding a venue for us now and will update everyone once we have one set up. It will be in the Dupont area so it should be easy for everyone to stop by after work. We'll get started at 7:00 pm.

DC Drupal Meetups

The month of May made its way without a DC Drupal meetup. Probably means we have to make up for it in June with a meetup to top all meetups, something legendary that will terrify the Joomla developers and be remembered for years to come.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what would be most useful? Trellon is working on some internal stuff and thinking about doing an advanced theming workshop focused on views integration and integrating jquery for top notch results. Maybe this would be part of a meetup or maybe it would be a side stage event, who knows...

Random ID Generation Write up

So, I've had a few inquiries over the last few months about random node generation as I have implemented it successfully for a client. I have posted a full write up of it on my blog. Feel free to comment on it here or on my blog; I will post a patch when I have a chance and if there is interest.

Module "Black-Hole" revival

There are a "LOT" of contrib modules out there. Even more so, there are a great deal of good modules that have been neglected. Lets be honest, a developers time is precious, and we all get spread thin and a bit scattered sometimes, and we leave our children (modules) to the way side for other things (like "bill-paying" modules/development so we can eat from time to time :) ).

Quickbooks Module Introduction

I am sorry for the poor quality of the screen cast. I've never done one, and I used "wink" to do it. I'll probabley update the "how to" later down the road.

So, I made a screen-cast of my quickbooks module. It's very pre-alpha, and the screen-cast is not the best. But I did it quickly. I've been getting a few inquiries, and I figured this would be the easiest way to explain it. I'll be releasing it to the cvs by the end of this week so hopefully I can some collaboration on it.
