Washington, DC Drupalers

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

This group is for everyone living in the DC metro area who's interested in Drupal. You can post here about anything relating to DC and Drupal, whether that's local job postings, events, or just a call out to talk shop over beers.

You can also find us in a couple of other places:

We have a great meetup every month where we get together to connect in person. The target audience is Drupal developers, users, and people who want to learn more about Drupal. We start the meetups with a round of very focused lightning talks that discuss real world solutions to existing problems, new work people have done, and Drupal news. Some of these talks are about code, and some are not. We do ask that all presenters talk on a level that everyone - including non-developers - can follow. After the talks, we chat over beer, and maybe play a few games of foosball.

We're open to ways to improve the meetups and this group, so speak up if you have ideas!

February DC Drupal Meetup

Start:
2009-02-09 19:00 - 21:00 UTC
Event type:
User group meeting

Come out this coming Monday to the February DC Drupal meetup, starting at 7:00 pm at Stetson's. This is a great chance to meet other local people using Drupal and talk about your experiences, challenges, and wins with the platform. These are casual events, and people with all levels of experience and expertise are welcome.

This meetup will follow our usual format. We'll have a round of 5-minute lightening presentations starting at 7:30 pm. Anyone can take the floor during this time to talk - for five minutes - about their work with Drupal. This is a great time to share what you've just learned about a module, what you've just built, or put a question out to the group. If you want to present, post your topic in the comments and come ready to talk. After the presentations, we'll go back to talking, drinking beer, and playing foosball and darts.

At this meetup, I'll be talking about DrupalCon - which will be here in DC in just a few weeks. There will be lots of fun opportunities to help out over the next few weeks and at the conference - I'll talk about these in detail on Monday.

We'll meet at the upstairs bar at Stetson's at 7:00 pm. More details on the venue are below.

See you on Monday! And if you're around tonight, come out to the NOVA Drupal meetup.

Baltimore Area User Group

The time has come to get a Baltimore Area Drupal Users Group together. People keep telling me they would love to work with Drupal but cannot seem to find many developers or resources in the area to get them started and help them feel supported. DC is just too far for some people to go during the week.

I am interested in leading regular meetups in the area and have several sponsors willing to donate meeting rooms, wireless access, projectors and other goodies. Wondering what people think about the following questions:

Calling DC area Ultimate players to help with the new wafc.org site

After a few months of discussion and planning the Washington Area Flying-disc Club (WAFC) has switched from a custom Java site to a new Drupal-based site. We're in the process of getting everything squared away in time for spring season and we could use some help from Drupal designers, dabblers, and experts.

www.wafc.org is the site.

Some of the tasks on the table still:
- Draft some custom themes
- Explore SMS integration
- Explore league and game organization and functionality options (scheduling, reporting scores, data analysis/reporting on players, etc.)

Silver Spring Youth Media Group Looking for Drupal Sensei (revered teacher)

Gandhi Brigade, a Silver Spring Youth Media project, is looking for a Drupal Sensei. We have a small capacity building grant to renovate our drupal site www.gandhibrigade.org

We dimly perceive the potential of a Drupal site to create a social network around youth media; we want to train our young adults to do the building and need an experienced developer who likes working with youth to advise us on design and roll out. We have some money but that won't be the reason you will help us.

If interested contact Richard Jaeggi
