This group is an announcement list of major discussions and happenings in Drupal 8 initiatives, cross-posted from their dedicated groups and issue queues (listed below). If you only have time to read a single channel of info on Drupal 8, this is the one!
Content is along the lines of:
a) We think a decision has been reached, and here's the decision. Feedback?
b) We're trying to reach a decision, and we need help. Here's where to chime in to help us reach it.
c) General status reports about "Hey, if you've been busy for the past while, here's what's going on and what things you should know."
Unfortunately, this group needs to be kept invite-only in order to keep the content curated to only important announcements of general interest, but you are warmly encouraged to comment and participate on any discussions posted to this group!

Kris & trusty d8 helpers have made some good progress with some tough architectural issues. But, some big challenges remain, and there's a long road ahead to get to the finish line with a UI for layout management.

Drupal 8 Multilingual Initiative meeting on October 19th, 2012
This is an after the fact announcement of the Drupal 8 Multilingual Meeting that just happened today. Although I did forget to announce the meeting, it did happen according to the pre-announced meeting list (http://groups.drupal.org/node/257888) which is also integrated in the google calendar at http://drupal.org/community-initiatives/drupal-core (upper portion of sidebar).
Our next meeting is on Oct 24, Wed, 4pm UTC, watch for the individual announcement, which I hopefully will not forget this time.

D8 Updates - Layouts & WSCCI info updated!
Hey everyone,
New updates posted for WSCCI and Scotch! Larry (Crell - WSCCI) says the router is in (awesome!!) and is really interested in getting generator and access control in. Kris (EclipseGc - Layouts, aka Scotch) would really appreciate help with blocks, layouts and conditions.

Drupal 8 Multilingual Initiative meeting on October 10th, 2012
Once again, our regular bi-weekly Wednesday meeting time is here! (See all the meeting times at http://groups.drupal.org/node/257888).
There are some very exciting issues on our current top priority task board, including a translation workflow for all configuration installations (and possibly updates), a nicely working entity translation user interface and other important things for both content and configuration translation. All of those are in dire need of reviews and input, so if you can spare some time to look at those, that would be superb!
At the time of the meeting, we'll only have 52 days left (barely more than 7 weeks) until code freeze! Keep moving!

Drupal 8 Multilingual Initiative meeting on October 5th, 2012
This is the first in our new series of bi-weekly Friday meetings augmenting our existing bi-weekly Wednesday meetings as explained at http://groups.drupal.org/node/257888 - now there is time to meet with like-minded people in the D8MI meeting every week (especially if you struggle to find people online randomly).
