e-Commerce Module

I have a Drupal 5.5 site with eC 5.x-3.4 and the ec_roles don't seem to be working as expected.

The problem:
I have a product that when purchased adds a role to the user. When I look at the user list it clearly states that the user is in the new paid role. When the user views the site, they don't have the new role. It appears as if the user role information is cached and not getting cleared when the role change takes affect. The user can log out and log back in and that does not resolve the problem.

Expected behavior:

I'm interested in being able to set up a pledging system, that can enable donation bounties as a content type, and allows people to first pledge, then be billed if pledges reach a capped amount, or have no one billed of pledges do not reach an amount.

Is it already possible to do this with existing modules (like e-commerce and cck)? If not, I am committed to producing this capability, and would feedback from this group on suggestions about how to approach from a module creation standpoint

With the current, stable ecommerce version, I'm putting together a site where free (price $0) file products can be downloaded without purchase. I've made it so that free file products are uploaded into an unprotected directory, and I've modified ec_file_may_download in file.module to allow these files to be downloaded with whatever permissions. This works perfectly for authenticated users, they can download these files easily, however anonymous users get redirected to a 404.

I've got the latest CVS and I've got the private upload module installed, but the file products thing has me stumped. File product is enabled and I've got an option to create a file download product, but it doesn't seem to do anything different to the other product types. On ecsettings/ptypes/file/add_feature ther'es nothing about file products.

I am the developer for an ecommerce site that sells books from India. The site is developed on Oscommerce few years ago. I would like to know if moving the site from oscommerce to Drupal is worth. I have been long working on Drupal for many community driven sites and since taking up my position as a devloper for this new book site, which a non-profit organisation, build on OSC, I am desiring to convert the site into Drupal.

Just posting a quick note to applicable groups regarding the initial beta release of Ubercart. The code has come a looong way from our first alpha, and we're quite happy with the community involvement and state of the code.

I'm running the stable version of eCommerce on Drupal 5.5 and I'm coming against some problems trying to configure it for file downloads. For example, when I try to purchase a file, it insists on asking for a shipping address. I can't seem to find the control panel to turn this off. Also, "quantity" is meaningless for file downloads, but I can't seem to figure out how to make it not ask you for that either. Are there built-in ways to handle these things? I can futz with the code myself, but I find it strange that the system wouldn't have some way to account for this kind of thing.

I want to have a few 'members only' products where anyone can view the product page but only those logged in can actually purchase them. However, the majority of the other products on the site area available to buy whether logged in or not (purchasing policy is set to 'flexible').

Is there a way to do this using ec 3.4 on drupal 5.5?

Stumbled across this module and post from a company called mobillcash earlier by accident. Looks interesting.

Haven't tried it out yet or looked at the pricing plans/module etc., but, I thought I would flag it up here as it isn't released properly as a contributed module ...i.e. as a module it's "in the wild", so to speak and won't show up on the radar.
