This group is dedicated to solutions and approaches for high traffic, high performing Drupal sites. As such, it will deal with a lot of information around the rest of a typical Drupal "stack" -- the operating system, web server, database, and PHP tweaks that combine to support the Drupal application.
This is not a support channel or a place to post bug reports.
If you think you have found a bug, use the issue queue for the appropriate project.
If you need support, see http://drupal.org/support for options.
Get performance, scalability and architectural data and information
We are working on a project to consolidate several B2B web sites into 1 CMS platform. Drupal comes high on the list as functions. However, I could not find any architecture diagram, performance and scalability data/references.
Read moreWSOD issues and other problems with Nginx - anyone seen this before?
Hi all,
Relatively new to Nginx, got a few sites running on it, no problem - we're porting another site over but this one is doing a WSOD on any views pages (as well as Views admin) and refusing to load the Admin module or the Rubik theme. It's truly odd. Linux permissions seem ok (triple-checked), no other issues we can see. We're not getting any meaningful errors in the error log, just the white screen. We installed dtools to get more information and the errors coming back look exactly like this:

First alpha release of nodejs.module1
Just in time for Drupalcon Chicago, i've rolled the first alpha release of the nodejs.module.
http://drupal.org/node/1082646
I've put a screencast of some of the the module can do on youtube:

The module is definitely not ready for prime-time, but its getting useful enough that i need more feedback to take it to the next level.
Read moreFile Cache - benchmarks needed
Hi,
I've just released first alpha of File Cache module and it will "compete" mainly with memcache and (to a lesser degree) boost. In my tests File Cache consistently outperforms memcache by very small margin and I would like test results by someone else :-) It's interesting to benchmark File Cache on memory filesystem too.

We’re trying to ascertain the best way to achieve good redundancy in an enterprise-level utilization of Drupal. Ideally, We would like to have multiple instances of Drupal on different physical hosts/VMs. For instance, if we need to perform maintenance on one host/VM, the site doesn’t go down because there’s always another instance up, or in case of DOS attack, we’d have a better chance of sustaining because we’d have multiple instances running instead of one.
Have others been able to achieved something like this? Any advice, caveats or suggestions?

Hey all,
I have been reading the last couple of months this drupal group and learned a lott of caching and performance.
Specifications:
Now i'm running Apache with Boost, memcache and Drupal6

Need MAJOR Help Understanding If Drupal Will Work For Us- Complete Performance Novice Here
I need help determining if we can really use Drupal and MySQL for a new site being planned for the Special Olympics of Northern California. I just read through another thread here by a "novice" and that "novice" knows WAY more than I do, so please know that while I'm a good Drupal designer, I know NOTHING about real performance issues.
The Special Olympics has a limited budget and I, nor anyone, will be setting up and managing the server configuration. We are looking at commercial hosts like GoDaddy.com and I'd like to use GoDaddy if it's not ridiculous for our needs.
Read moreBest practice shared file system
We run a large Pressflow site with several webservers (load balanced with HAProxy). On every server the pressflow /files directory is shared via NFS3 to a master server. We see some limits in this NFS approach and would like to deploy a new, more performant and redundant system.
There are different choices like GlusterFS, MogileFS, NFS4, Lustre, ...
What do you use and how are your experiences so far with shared file systems?
Thanks for any best practice hints.

In our stable of D6/PF6 publishing sites, several have these qualities in common:
- Delivered by Akamai.
- /admin and other sensitive paths are locked out of the public site (example.com/admin) and available only on our internal network (e.g., internal.example.com/admin).
- Cookies are shared on the domain level (.example.com).
- admin_menu enabled.
- Akamai is set to ignore the app's cache-control headers in certain places, or across the whole site.
Scaling Plan for Novice
I've tried to go through the groups and forums to glean as much information as I could prior to posting this. I fall into the category of someone who is fairly familiar with drupal and mildly familiar with server setups. There is a wealth information on Performance and tuning, but it leaves the novice without a clear path of how to scale. I though I would post my setup here along with my confusion, in hopes that it will help other individuals in the same boat.
My Current Setup
I currently have 400K nodes and 100 users
I hope to be able to scale to 100k + users 5M Nodes
