Drush 2 is way better and usable than Drush 1 was

Drush 2 is way better and usable than Drush 1.
http://drupal.org/project/drush

Drush is a command line tool for Drupal, it is not a module. I have found it greatly increases my Drupal development. It can download, enable, disable, uninstall and update modules/themes/profiles/translations. It is CVS, SVN and Rsync capable. It can execute SQL commands and many core functions like cron and clearing cache. But wait there's more ...

If you develop with Drupal I recommend loading it on your local environment with these commands. I do all my CVS checkouts/updates with it.

Customizing search

I've created a custom content type called "jobpost" and customized the template so that it shows the way I like. I'm now down to the problem of searching. I'd like to make it searchable so that people can type a keyword and find jobs that match it.

This article helped me do that: http://drupal.org/node/141788 So now I've got a "jobs" page that has a nice looking search box and some helpful tips.

Iowa Drupal Users group meeting - 30Jun2009 - Theming like a pirate!

Start:
2009-06-29 19:00 - 21:00 America/Chicago
Event type:
User group meeting

Drupal PirateDan laid the ground work. Now it's time to theme your site like a Drupal Pirate! Captain Rox (Dusty) will show us how to swab the deck of all unwanted CSS putting you in full control of your ship.

He has been the leader in building iMed's Vanilla theme and companion module (soon to be released). It's not for the faint of heart, as your first load of the site looks much like it would with a text only browser. Just a tall column of text. But the result is FULL control. Development tools have been built-in to give you module specific CSS overrides and a specialized debugging tool. I'm sure there is more but I'm not the Captain.

Any Drupal folks in NW Iowa?

Hello all,

Thought I'd join, at least for the time being, as I'm moving to Seattle in a month. I'm in Sioux City and working on a few Drupal sites. Wouldn't mind some coffee shop drupal-ing if anyone else is nearby.

Execute Code Before View

OK, stupid question time. First a bit of background info...

I've used CCK to create a data type and a module to go with it. The module has only one function thus far and it's job is to query the DB and calculate a "volunteer score" reflecting how much volunteer work a member has logged in the 30 days prior to some target date. The whole purpose is so that I can do a better job of scheduling volunteers to work at the local non-profit theatre.

User group meeting

I know it's at the same time as the drupal meeting. It would normally be a tough choice for me to decide which I would go to but since I'm an organizer of the dsmwebgeeks meeting I should probably show up. :-) We'll be covering web design as our topic so if you're not going to be in Ames on Monday night consider checking out http://dsmwebgeeks.com instead.

Creating a page with a template

When a new user creates a page I'd like to give them the option of a couple templates, for example, "plain" (blank), "side bar," "table of contents" or etc. Depending on the choice, the content area may be pre-populated with some HTML.

Any suggestions on how to accomplish this? FTR, I will be using a wysiwyg editor.

squashBring your issues and we'll squash em! The harder the better.
In the past, we have used our collective powers to help the community. Now it's time to help ourselves. Let's leverage the collective Drupal knowledge we have and help the most important relevant people, ourselves.

Bring your issues, your laptop and your thinking caps. We'll work as a team and drag ourselves up the Drupal learning curve. Don't worry about how simple or difficult your issues (Drupal issues only please) are, just bring them.

As a warm up, post your Drupal questions. And we'll get in the problem squashing mood.
That means YOU! ... just to name names: Dan, John, Travis, Austin, Dusty, Matt, Chris, Mark, Andy, Jeff, Paul, Isaiah, Bryan, Peter, Jane, Jon, Jason, Liz, Erica, Abbey, Your Name, ......

Where?
2604 Northridge Parkway
Ames, IA 50010
Park in the back and enter through the back door (knock if it is locked).

I have been struggling with the creation of a drupal site - and being completely new to drupal is why. The deadline has just about run out (thanks to my drupal learning curve) so am willing to pay someone to assist me with some basics such as:

After having been all over the drupal site for help, soluctions to these are still elusive. Blocks did display before but dont now.
