A BACnet device is any device, real or virtual, that supports digital communication using the BACnet protocol (see www.bacnet.org)
BIG-D has formed to develop integration of BACnet devices with Drupal, and http://groups.drupal.org/node/100434 begins discussion to that end. Are there any 'Service Ninjas' with BACnet experience that can help us out? And/or BACneteers that can help point in the right direction?
BACnet systems play an important role in systems relevant to Energy Management, Renewable Energy, Smart Grid applications and energy efficiency in buildings.

BACnet IP with MySQL

I am working with an IT guru in a plant who is proficient in programming with Java, C++, etc. and he wants to know if there are any open source programs out there which can retrieve data values from BACnet IP and write them into MySQL database tables which he will manage. Given that MySQL is open source, and BACnet is an open protocol, it seems as if there should be some open source program applications out there to do what he is looking to do.
Anyone have any experience with doing this? Any good or bad feedback to offer?

It should be possible to write an app to do this fairly easily with the BACnet stack at
https://sourceforge.net/projects/bacnet/.
There are example apps there which show how to read properties and it would be a relativley
simple task to add the code to write the data retrieved to a database.
