I am tasked with creating an online journal. It will be similar to a newspaper in terms of organization. The idea is that articles are published as part of an "edition". New Editions are published monthly. A link to the current edition will appear in the "main menu" as "Current Edition". So far I've done the following:
- Created an "Article" content type which is the article to be published in a given edition
- Created an "Edition" content type with a node reference field that allows the user to select all nodes belonging to this edition.
My questions are:
a. how would you suggest I go about creating the "Current edition" link which will always point to the relevant Edition node? I created a view which sorts editions by "effective date" desc and only displaying one node. This forced it to always display the the "current edition", but...
b. Where do I go from there? How do I manipulate the view to now display the node references in that particular edition?
Any suggestions? Or at least a push in the right direction?
Cheers

View for Current Edition
Simplest would be to clone your View, Make it display count = 1, Row style = Node, full view. Link the Menu to this View.

ProsePoint
You might want to take a look at how ProsePoint does this; I used ProsePoint as the basis for a website for a small daily newspaper, and it's not too difficult to set up.
