Welcome to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Drupal Group -- the place to get involved with the Twin Cities Drupal community whether you're new, a core contributor to the Drupal project or somewhere in between. Register for the group to get posting privileges and to be notified of what's going on.
Looking to connect with other local friendly Drupal people? Check out the Events tab for a rundown of our regular meetups and other upcoming Drupal-related events.
You can also join your Drupal peers and mentors in a couple of places:
- Slack tends to be more active these days. Join https://tcdrupal.slack.com. If you need an invite go here to get an automatic invite to the Slack team
- IRC -- #drupal-twin-cities on irc.freenode.net -- to ask questions, propose ideas, socialize. Check out Drupal.org for more info about IRC and Drupal including how to create a new account and connect. Or come to the next local meetup and someone will help you get started.

I'd like to start a discussion around whether the Twin Cities Drupal community would benefit from forming a non-profit corporation, in particular for the purpose of organizing and funding the annual DrupalCamp Twin Cities, but more generally for promoting Drupal, and for supporting other Drupal events around the Twin Cities.

TC Drupal Friends:
Anyone around here good with Rules (and maybe commerce). Not sure if there is anything commerce specific about this problem - but, it does involve commerce.
Basically, I'm trying to expose a variety of tokens/fields from multiple sources to include in one custom email triggered by a rule. Depending upon which event I use to trigger the rule, I have access to different tokens. But, I can't seem to make all of them available in just one rule.
I've outlined the problem in a bit more detail here:

Some of us have discussed the value of a meeting every 2-3 months to schedule and coordinate the various Drupal related events in the Twin Cities.
The purpose of these meetings would be to:
- Avoid scheduling conflicts
- Make adjustments in the schedule for holidays, cons, or camps
- Propose new events (i.e. - upcoming Global Sprint Weekend)
- Create a predictable TC Drupal calendar that we can promote
- Etc.......

Hi all,
I'm starting to suspect jQuery isn't loading on some of the pages of https://test.cgsi.org . JQuery is something I take for granted, so I have no clue how to determine if it's actually loading. Can anyone suggest some trouble-shooting ideas.
Many thanks in advance!

TC Drupal October meetup -- Backdrop CMS -- Oct. 23rd
Join us for the Twin Cities Drupal October meetup happening (surprise!) on its regularly scheduled date -- Wednesday October 23rd from 7-9PM at Intermedia Arts.
Topic -- Backdrop
Nate Haug and Jen Lampton openly discussed the idea of forking Drupal this past July at DrupalCamp Twin Cities (first public mention?) and then made good on the idea later in the summer. The launch of Backdrop CMS made DrupalCon Prague more interesting than usual and continues to raise hopes and controversy.
If you have questions or opinions (and I know you do!), join us. We'll lay out what we know, quash some rumors and start some new ones. I may even explain my offhand remark that Backdrop is the "Obamacare of Drupal." Then again, I may not.
Read moreAutomated Testing
Hi everyone,
We're embarking on some automated testing in the deployment of a new D7 site that has thousands of pages. I'm curious to hear what others out there are using or have experimented with. We've looked at Selenium and at Fake and we'd love to hear more from anyone else on the list. We're looking to compare content between the old D6 and the new D7 site (it's undergoing a migration not a strict upgrade) on a representative set of pages; we'd also like to check functionality on the new site as we are able to.
All thoughts appreciated!
Ivan.

Drupal v. Wordpress at CoCo Mpls postponed!
This morning I received an email from Curt Prins who, with his brother, was set to host the big Drupal v. Wordpress Battle Royale at CoCo Minneapolis later this month. Well, they've called it off.
They say this is due to being too busy. For those of us who enjoyed last month's Drupal meetup where we explored the same topic, we could surmise the postponement is due more to Wordpress needing to pull back to prepare more intensively given the threatening full-court press by the Drupal community which is poised to unleash Drupal 8 and Backdrop on the CMS world in the next year.
Until we're called to battle (royale) sometime in the future, let's keep doing what we do best -- being the greatest, most supportive and open-minded open source software community around.
Speaking of, look for the announcement of our October 23rd meetup soon. Want a sneak preview of this month's topic? Well, it's not yet done enough to stick a fork in it so you'll just have to wait.

Sorry for another change in schedule, but this weeks scheduled Coder night is going to need to be postponed.
NO MEETUP TOMORROW!
Normally, our monthly coder night would take place at Tightrope media on the second Thursday of the month (tomorrow). However, I just learned that Ray will be out of town and unable to host us.
He suggested trying again next week. Does that work for anyone?
Let us know if you'd like to attend a Drupal Coder meetup and Core Contribution Sprint - next Thursday Oct 17th (6-9PM)?

Some people are supposedly getting [old, false] reports of a spammer through my http://mynichecomputing.org/drupal6 sub-site. This is thanks to drupal6 and I am tempted to throw drupal6 away completely: I want to be able to find all such garbage in my drupal IF AND WHEN IT EXISTS before 'reports' are generated: Such supposed reports are certainly no longer true, but it seems drupal flaws may be leading to ruining the reputation of my site

Hello,
I'm working with a client who is trying to get their RSS feed from a Drupal 6 site into a mobile App they created.
However, the Drupal RSS Feed isn't compatible with their mobile App RSS reader.

Validator.w3.org suggests I insert a "atom:link" to your feed in the channel section.
Any clues on the easiest way to get this into my Drupal 6 RSS feed?
Thanks,

Web development (Drupal?) job opportunity at U of MN Law School Institute
The Robina Institute of Criminal Law and Justice at the U of MN Law School is hiring a "Sentencing Law and Policy Program Area Webmaster" primarily for the "creation and maintenance of an on-line repository of sentencing reform materials, with particular emphasis on materials from the states that have adopted sentencing guidelines." There would be some other website-type work on the side, but the bulk of the job is design and creation of the repository. It's a full-time position, funded for 3-5 years, so it could be a great opportunity for someone looking for a chance to build out their experience and resume on a significant public information management project, but not necessarily a place to plan to retire.
The job listing can be found here:
http://employment.umn.edu/applicants/Central?quickFind=115251
(This is not necessarily a Drupal-specific job, but it could be depending on the skills and suggestions of the person hired. The jobs board here is restricted to Drupal jobs, so I'm posting this instead as a general discussion.)

Just following up on the feedback from last week's early Drupal Happy Hour: Let's do it again this week on the Happy Hour's normal day and time. As noted, there's plenty to talk (and argue) about. Drupal 8 Contribution this weekend?
Hey -
I was wondering if anyone in the community would be interested in meeting up this weekend to help me (and anyone else) get their hands dirty in Drupal 8? I have a version of Drupal 8 installed (I'm sure it needs to be updated) and I'd really like to get involved and contribute something... but I don't know what I'm doing. :/
I was thinking maybe a coffee house someplace either Saturday or Sunday afternoon?
Let me know if anyone is interested.
