Welcome to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Drupal Group -- the place to get involved with the Twin Cities Drupal community whether you're new, a core contributor to the Drupal project or somewhere in between. Register for the group to get posting privileges and to be notified of what's going on.
Looking to connect with other local friendly Drupal people? Check out the Events tab for a rundown of our regular meetups and other upcoming Drupal-related events.
You can also join your Drupal peers and mentors in a couple of places:
- Slack tends to be more active these days. Join https://tcdrupal.slack.com. If you need an invite go here to get an automatic invite to the Slack team
- IRC -- #drupal-twin-cities on irc.freenode.net -- to ask questions, propose ideas, socialize. Check out Drupal.org for more info about IRC and Drupal including how to create a new account and connect. Or come to the next local meetup and someone will help you get started.
March TCDrupal meetup -- mapping with Drupal
Join us for the March 2014 TC Drupal meetup on Wednesday March 26th from 7-9PM at Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis. Interested in how to make maps happen on Drupal sites but can't make it to either Midwest Drupal Camp -- MidCamp or DrupalCon Austin? Well, TCDrupal's own Tim Erickson, stpaultim, will be debuting his Maps, Open Layers and Proximity Search presentation -- proposed for both of these prestigious, previously mentioned events -- at this month's meetup. See the full post for all the details about the talk, Community Lab Hours, location, etc. etc.

Hey Drupalistas,
It was with a heavy heart that I post this announcement. Even though its had a spotty run the past few months, I've always really enjoyed hosting the Coder Meetup. It was fun getting together with the Drupal Community and hacking on some code. It always reminded me of hanging out in the coder lounge at Camps and Cons.

Sending out the next issue of the TC Drupal newsletter tomorrow. If you have any announcements that you would like included, please contact me: tim@politalk.org

Read moreCache clearing schemes
Hello fellow TC Drupalers,
Does anyone have a good scheme to auto clear the cache of a site on a regular basis?
I started using the Domain access module on a site, and though it worked fine on my local, up live it keeps losing the domain info:
Notice: Undefined index: machine_name in domain_tokens() (line 87 of /var/www/mysite/public/sites/all/modules/domain/domain.tokens.inc).
I have tried a patch I found for Domain access, no luck.
The only thing so far that fixes it is to clear the cache manually. So.... back to my question.
Thanks,
Mark

I've started making a few small changes to our Drupal group. One of them is that we now have an Events page that is a separate full page of event information.
Any other ideas for changing things within our limited power to do so are welcome. Talk amongst yourselves.

Stemming from a discussion at TCD'OH about community improvement, I'd like to see more frequent meetups on our group calendar, outside of our regular recurring events.
We're not exactly discouraging other events, but our social calendar is dominated so much by the regular meetups that it can seem like that's all there's supposed to be. That's a shame; I often can't make it to the coder meetup in St. Paul, for example, but I'd absolutely host a one-off coder meetup in Minneapolis some Saturday morning.

I don't know about you, but I had a blast this past Saturday at our first ever TCD'OH! Starting off as a way to satisfy our craving for Drupal camaraderie between Twin Cities DrupalCamps and morphing into a new way to interact and inspire, I think it exceeded all of our expectations.
Read moreWant Help Writing Session Proposals?
Session (and scholarship!) proposals for Drupalcon Austin are due March 7th. I've had a couple people ask about getting help writing session proposals, and I figured it'd be easier (and more fun) to bring people together. So come as you are and drop in to brainstorm and get help writing your proposals.
I've blocked off time between 10am and 2pm, but feel free to drop in anytime within that window.
Read moreTC DOH: Freelancers Unite!
The conclusion is that it's hard to be a freelancer, but rewarding for many reasons. There are a lot of responsibilities that freelancers dislike (sales, marketing, interacting directly with the client) and there may be benefits to collaborating to share the burden, share leads, and work together on projects that would be too large for one person.

Some people from our discussion today asked that I post this here. Check out the official notes from the Google Doc for this session: https://docs.google.com/a/enjoycreativity.com/document/d/1HPfo077PXYAUw4...
Benefits of responsive:
- One site is cheaper than two.

- Superfish
- Megamenu
- Navigation menu for omega 3?
- One level of navigation (with no more than seven options) - best practice for good usability
- Using block menu for child links
Images & video:
- Responsive images module (in d8) / picture module (in d7)
List of Twin Cities Drupal consultants
At today's Twin Cities Drupal Open House there were a few requests for a list of Twin Cities Drupal consultants. There have also been discussions about having a TCDrupal.org site with more information and functionality. That site could easily have a directory - which would work much better than, say, making a list in a post here on g.d.o. which soon rolls off the group homepage and therefore becomes unfindable, un-updated and therefore, essentially useless.
