News agency creeds for website

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

I am working on a new Drupal-based website for a news organisation. We would be subscribing to news agency feeds like Associated Press, Reuters, etc.

Is there any way, we can import the creeds straight on to the website? Ideally, only those creeds which we select/mark.

Thanks.

Wire service feeds

akempler's picture

Hi,

We've used the Feeds module to bring in Reuters, AP, McClatchy, and SportsDirect feeds.
We setup a centralized Drupal site that lets our newspaper customers provide their wire service credentials and entitlements.
The site then pulls their feeds from various services, indexes them using solr, and allows them to search all sources at once.
They can mark stories they are interested in for export.
It's setup so they can export the selected stories directly into their Drupal systems via an xmlrpc based module/service we created.

We felt having a separate site to aggregate all that content and then let them select what they want was a better choice than filling up their newspaper Drupal/editorial systems with all that wire content.

If you are interested I would be happy to show you what we have setup.

Interesting concept, is this

Interesting concept, is this done through more than one domain or the use of sub domains?

Interested too.

Adam, don't set one up just for me, but if you do set up a webinar, I'd love to be included (I'll send you a note). It's always good to compare notes.

Over the weekend I set up a site pulling The Sports Network's (proprietary weird) XML into nodes (for stories) and a Data module table (for scores), using the Xpath parser in both cases. For anyone who's ever tussled with writing a database loader for Drupal, it's just stunning how much easier things have become in the last couple of years.

I spent more time fighting with my router to let TSN have FTP access than I did configuring Feeds. :-)
