Drupal Dojo DimDim Online

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

It's finally happened! The Drupal Dojo has it's very own 100-seat-capable DimDim account!

Thanks to all who chipped in over the course of November to get the funding together.

Currently, all group admins have the login, but as soon as we can figure out a way to share this information more widely w/o it being abused, we'll get it into more of your hands. In the meantime, contact me directly if you'd like to login and use the Drupal Dojo's screen-sharing service.

In a perfect world, I'd like people to be able to use this in a free-form real-time fashion for collaborative debugging and discussion, so don't be shy about asking for access. If you've got an idea for how to make the login easily accessible but avoid abuse, please feel free to chime in as well.

Just had this idea: what if we told the login/pass to the good old Drupalicon IRC bot? That would be easy to get access too, but not as wide-open as putting it on a public page here in the group...

Tricky situation...

Good job guys! Now there's no excuse for us not to give out lessons properly and easily. I stil have to test the system see if my cpu/bandwidth can handle doing a lesson.

I'm not familiar with dimdim enough to suggest a reasonable solution for this, but we should at least have a way of knowing who accessed the service (logs?) so that if it does get abused we can take appropriate action.

I have a question about handing out the password publicly, either on here or the irc chat bot: can the user login in change the password? -- if so, we have a problem (duh). If not, then I guess it could be done through the irc bot, though we should find a way of geting notified as soon as it gets used, just to keep an eye on it.

Perhaps we should discuss this in the irc channel and see what we can come up with, what do you guys think?

The login info is posted on a members-only page

You can get the login info here:

http://groups.drupal.org/node/17810

Or ping people in IRC of course.

I thought a bit more about the abuse issue, and until we have a problem I think we should just be open. The account is tied to my email and paypal info, so if someone does try to hijack it we can always get it back and start being more restrictive. For the time being, I'd like to see what happens if we just make it easy for anyone to use.

Thanks for handling all of this, Josh! Seems like a great idea. It seems like a great way to involve the community even more.
