Where? 902 Colorado Ave., Santa Monica, CA 90401 (Venue Sponsor: CauseCast.org)

Whats an LA Drupal meetup like? Fun & Interesting!
LA Drupal meetups are free and open to anyone interested in Drupal from beginner to guru, but you have to bring a fun attitude and be willing to share or learn.
We have areas for networking, general topics, and more advanced learning and sharing. Presentations and a big breakout session at the end to chat and network.
We like to highlight and encourage folks with cool local projects to present at upcoming meetings. In the past year we've had presenters from Warner Brothers Records; hosting over a hundred artist sites on Drupal, standup2cancer.org - over a million hits in one day during the airing of the show, and local shops such as www.ThisByThem.com, www.openChimp.com, www.chillco.com, www.exaltations.net, www.IJHANA.com, www.WorkHabit.com, www.AchieveInternet.com, and others. Topics have included How to build your first Drupal Module, Using Views 1 & Views 2, Panels module, Drush module, Theming, and Scaling Drupal & Cloud computing among others.
Have a topic you'd like to see? Add it here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/9220
Agenda
Free Beer & Pizza provided by our host: www.causecast.org
Book Raffles sponsored by Apress and Wrox publishing.
Main Presentation Area
Main presentation area holds up to 80 people and is geared towards general interest topics, especially geared towards people who are new to Drupal or the Topic(s) being presented. It is also a forum for sharing, asking questions.
Presentation: "Ubercart 2.0 for Drupal 6" Time to talk E-commerce with Drupal. Ubercart, an e-commerce module suite has gained so much popularity that some people have accidentally thought it was a competing product to Drupal. David Bittinger of Enhanced Aesthetic (www.eadesign.com) will be presenting this topic. Come see how our popular CMS can work for your commerce-based clientele.
Lightning Talks - come prepared to talk for 5 min. about something you'd like to share with the Drupal group. Finished a new Drupal site? Find a cool new module? Keep it succinct - you get stopped at five minutes - but we'll be nice about it.
Q & A followed by Job Announcements.
Drupal Labs
The idea behind Labs is to provide a forum to help developers and themers get to the next level or to provide a discussion room where elementary explanations on drupal don't need to be revisited. The Labs room fits 10-15 people max. in a workroom with a projector.
Labs Theme (subject to change)
Dissecting Drupal: API's, best practices, cool tricks, Drupal trickery
Project Tools: What applications are in your toolbox? Why do you use them? What steps do you take when you first take on a project. What do you use for version control? I'm using bazaar, and can share why I like it for web development. I like Netbeans & gedit.
And...
In addition to our presentation(s) of the night we have open-mic opportunities for those who have general Drupal questions or need help during our wonderful meeting segment, "Ask the LA Drupal Community." Need to just ask another human a Drupal question? Then this is that chance.
We have raffle prizes for attendees, and as always, the end of the meeting is our networking session with the fun and knowledgeable LA Drupal crowd.
Those wishing to make announcements for Drupal jobs/work, please contact Chris Charlton (chris @ chrischarlton .us) and we can provide time for you to speak to the audience.

Can we ask the presenter
To address Ubercart and the Visa PCI-DSS security requirements?
twitter, meeting videos, and Visa PCI-DSS security
Wow! It was a packed / cramped room last night. Sorry for the mishap folks, but word is that next month www.Causecast.org will be in a new space (literally across the street). Because the room was so full I spent most of my time at the net squared meetup. (it was good, and maybe I'm biased, but I feel out meetups have a lot more meat).
I wanted to share a few things with the community:

Ubercart Meetup Video Posted
As promised I worked hard to get the Ubercart presentation posted: http://drupal-la.blip.tv - I'll follow quickly with other meetups, starting with the Views 2 Tutorila by Blake.
If you have an iPod/iPhone, I'd also really like feedback on the ipod/iphone compatibility. Make sure to add the http://drupal-la.blip.tv/rss to your vodcast reader.

Not sure if I can make it out tonite
Not sure if I will be able to make it out tonite - shame because I really want to see the presentation on Ubercart. Have fun and hopefully the slides/video will be up soon :)
Won't get there in time
I'm in Orange County. Won't make it there in time. Hope to see you next month.

Venue update for next month
Our current venue sponsor (Causecast.org; thank you Causecast) has informed us they will be moving across the street from their current location (Mahalo building). Our next meeting (June '09) and our August D7 Code Sprint will be held at this new venue. When we have the address and more details then we will post the address and the upcoming two events mentioned here.

Missed it
Saw the announcements about the venue problem so started working on something else & when I checked back it was too late to head over. Too bad as I really wanted to check out the Ubercart talk. I can never make a Net2LA meetup (but really need to!) since they´re the same day as LA Drupal so that would´ve been a nice bonus.
My project would fall under both umbrellas since my goal is to use Drupal to create a web-based tool for community improvement. One of these days, I´ll feel like the project´s close enough to use a lightning talk on. It got stalled for a while so it might be good to get some fresh ideas on it.
