I would like to suggest a casual meetup in Beijing to get connected and network and share.
Also I learned how to contribute back to the community even though I am not a drupal expert(I am a little over 4 months since discovering drupal).
I would like to share things I learned from community members when I attended DrupalCon Munich recently and share my experience if you are interested in hearing.
-How to setup local setup for drupal core 8.
-installing git
-how to contribute and help on drupal 8 issues/reviews

I thought first we could meet up casually to get comfortable and get to know each other a little. Any suggestion on venue or place to meet up?
Also do you know any venue that we could meet with laptop and use projector(idealy) and wi-fi?

I know English is barrier for some of you so this could be good chance to practice your English and also network and meet with other drupallers. :)
I am Korean moved to Beijing a year ago. I run my community business in Seoul so I travel back and forth a lot. But I decided to settle down in Beijing and dive into its culture, language and social scenes from October. I plan on living in Beijing at least two more years and will start learning Chinese soon as well as Drupal.
I would like to have monthly or regular Beijing offline meetup in English.
But I am not sure how many people are interested in.

Welcome to Beijing, and there is seldom meetings recently, so it could be better if we make a schedule. As for the place, I just know 五道口(wu dao kou) is a nearby place for some guys, also the office at weekend (or home) is a good choice since it is very familiar and not need to look for.

I would be interested in such a meet up. I would be curious to see how many English speaking Drupallers there are here in Beijing, as in past events I have been the only foreigner at most meetings (although these have been in Chinese, which is probably why).
One thing that I think is important is the location. If it is to be held in some bar/restaurant be sure to select something which is affordable for the broadest range of participants. Unfortunately I don't have any specific suggestions.
ribbon.zhao's suggestion of using an office is not bad, as they usually have access to the equipment we might need, and is less cost prohibitive to participation. Only thing is that an office would probably give a more formal feeling to the event. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing. Probably depends on what you are after.

Yes, you are right!! I changed the meetup for everyone-not only English speakers after meeting other fellow drupal neighbor day!
He told me that there were people joining in Shanghai meetup and it didn't matter much. This first time meetup will be casual and to invite diverse people. Then when there are more people joining, we could discuss and find better solutions and figuring out!

Drupal meetups or happy hours in Beijing
I was in several meetups and happy hours in Shanghai. The meetups are structured with clear schedule, and they took place in offices. The happy hours are in bars, and there are no clear schedules; people just come and talk about Drupal and the web. Both are great. Usually, both happy hour and meetups are monthly in Shanghai. I know they have Drupal basketball now. :)
It would be great that we have more Drupal events in Beijing.
Robbin Zhao's suggestion of office is perfect for a meetup. I have been to Zinch's office for a Drupal event months ago. It was nice. So if anybody makes their office available, we appreciate, and we should go for it.
We may also have Drupal happy hour in a bar, especially when offices are not available. We may find one close to most of us. I am in Chaoyang, but if many of you are in Haidian, I'd love to meet you there.
By the way, in Shanghai, the notice of Drupal events are written in English and Chinese to attract the most people, especially for happy hours. It works.

I don't know the area that well except my home area(near Chaoyang park) and my husband work area Wangjing. :)
For the meetup with laptop and more formal style, specific place name or company who is willing to let us use their office or venue would be great. I will contact Microsoft in Wangjing when we have more details after casual meetup or discussion. :)
So happy hour or casual meetup and regular monthly meetup where we can use WI-FI and laptop with projector is our goal to make it happen.
I think it will be great to have a free or low cost place so everyone can come and join without worrying about financial situation.

For casual meetup I am free any evening except Wednesdays. My preference would be for something in the Chaoyang area.
