Anyone for a Views Tutor?

Okay I have been struggling with Views for several weeks now as a new Drupal user. I have read everything I can find and watched several videos online, but I must be missing something, because my outputs are not what I am looking for.

I am an extremely fast learner, but I am a bit puzzled by this, the odd thing is some times I get random results, so I am not sure if there is something a miss with my database or code.

Anyway my goal is to create several output pages based on criteria to list them, which is what views is for, right? Well then I get even more confused as I started seeing how CCK might help out the display and all of this surrounds taxonomy. So I am starting to wonder if that is my base issue.

Just to show you what I am up against, I have attached two images the view settings and the results. Notice how the results shows duplicates of everything? Man that is annoying and can't find a way to loose that. However that is just the start, but any help on this would really be appreciated.

I am looking for someone I can talk to on the phone or do a webinar with or even give an admin account to help me learn what should be simple logical stuff....but yet it isn't.

Anyway I would appreciate all of you not killing yourselves to run to my aide and I would be happy to give some feed back on your social networking pages to help promote you....just to be clear, I just need some simple instruction, maybe 1/2 of your time this is a non paid position :)

Thanks very much community!

node type?

Usually in a view of nodes you should specify the node type(s) you want to include, as a filter. Maybe this is why you're getting doubles?

If they really are two copies of the same node, you can set the "Basic Settings: Distinct" property to TRUE. You shouldn't need to do this though, it's a pretty brute force method of making it work.

hope that helps,

Thanks kscheirer, I have

Thanks kscheirer,

I have done both added and removed the filter for both page and story as I want either that meets the condition I wish to show. In either case I get doubles.

What is the "Basic Settings: Distinct" ? I don't see that anywhere.

Take a look here at the attached image for the distinct setting. It's on the left hand column under "Basic Settings."

That helped! Thanks However
