Official JDUG website at Acquia.com?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

FYI, Dries announced this a few days ago:

This is a good chance to get a sandbox environmental up for more people to come and learn about Drupal. I think it's best if we all join forces and build one big community for Japan! So, let's talk about what URL we want for it and what we can do with it.

Cheers,

Great idea!

Great idea Nick!

FYI, the Japan group has a great URL ready, but so far for the same reasons the group hasn't agreed to be named JDUG yet, the site ideas haven't materialized. I assume things will start when the very few who oppose will feel that they don't need to oppose. It does seem that intents to avoid some sort of unknown friction due to the fact that the word "Japan" is included in the group naming is of some concern for the entire group for the few, of which I'm quite sure many have no concerns.

In the meantime, the Tokyo group, since it is currently small, the decisions can be made quickly and I'm all for a Tokyo group site if 2-3 people can agree to be admins. I'd be interested in Drupal Dojo style.

If anyone wants to be an admin or feels other things should be discussed with regards to this topic, please comment. Any suggestions for a Tokyo Drupal URL?

Best regards,

Scott

I suggest even if we're just

I suggest even if we're just a group in Tokyo, our URL and site name should be called Japan.

May be JEDUG (for Japan East DUG)... hey, that's not bad... sounds like JEDI! :D

BTW, I registered HKDUG.info for the HK group - http://groups.drupal.org/node/26898 , you can see some suggestions being thrown around about what to do with the site.

Tokyo Drupalrs, let's get together for another casual meet up!

So is anyone up for starting a site? Maybe for the Tokyo group, or we can bring it up at the Japan group meetups but noone seems interested.

Again I'm all for the Tokyo group site being started, and I'd like to make it into a community building & educational website in Japanese. I can supply a bulk of the content if necessary and might have things to say about site design, but would like to allocate admin and development tasks to another member. Please contact me if you're interested in details.

I'm also thinking about calling the Tokyo group TDUG or TKDUG, though the g.d.o URL will remain /japan-tokyo.

Hey Scott, let's try to

Hey Scott, let's try to organize another casual offline. I'm free most week nights and Sundays, I would love to see a regular, may be bi-weekly, casual meetup in Tokyo.

@ Matt and Dave, how are you guys doing? When's a good time for everyone?

Current Japan & Asia-Pacific groups

Three Japan group websites, from the Asia-Pacific section of the Drupal local groups directory:

Two general Asia-Pacific groups, also from the directory:

OK. I should be open for 10/11, 19/18.

OK. I should be open for a casual Drupal meetup for 10/11, 10/18 Sundays, or any weekday starting after this weekend if notified in advance.

FYI, the Japan Group I think intends to hold the next meeting or combine event participation and meeting at Open Source Conference (OSC) on 10/30, 1031.

10/11 works for me. Hey,

10/11 works for me.

Hey, you're using American dates :D It's Oct. 11th people, next Sunday.

Same time same place? 3pm, Sakura Cafe Ikebukuro?

Can I come?

If so, where exactly? Is that the place with a whole bunch of good beers?

You're welcome to join us.

Thank you! By the way...

Any agenda for the meeting aside from the spot on Acquia.com? I'd like to see what people are thinking about the "wiki" section in this group setvik set up. It could help rather "uninitiated" people like me more... (Of course it could be far outside of what the meeting was intended for...)

Thanks

I've been digging Ubercart

xbro's picture

I've been digging Ubercart as it's said that it can enable fee-based sites and node access control in conjunction, and wondering how on earth to get it worked out. btw, I'm a Drupal newbie but php programmer & DB.

Last time the Japan group was active at the wiki is I believe when we were working on translating text for an open source event brochure, but besides that I don't know if there has been any activity. But unless a decent number people show up and express their Drupal interests, the Sunday meeting will just be a casual get together like a barbecue, with no agenda besides discussing Drupal and maybe business projects (my main biz is business consulting), unless someone wants to talk about something.

I'm interested if anyone else is interested in starting up a site for Drupal info in Japan. My goal at the Tokyo Group which is a separate group from the Japan Group is to enable an active environment for Drupalers utilizing its compactness (small and new group structure). I think it would be great if other people could join in to build the foundations of a neat group in Tokyo which in turn will contribute to Drupal in Japan.

Best regards,

Scott
