I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they have had success using Drupal to publish listings of movies, concerts, theatre and other events both to a newspaper while also allowing for dynamic searches on the website.
I would guess that the Events module might be a good place to start, but there maybe a better way to go that I'm not aware of.
The main challenges for us are the different ways we want to format these for print as opposed to the web.
For example, in the paper, our Editors would like to show a movie listing as 'EPIC MOVIE Cineplex Theatre 12:45 2:45 7:10 9:20 extra mats. Fri.-Sun: 5:00', a theatre listing as 'To Feb. 24, Thurs.-Sat. at 8 pm (mats. Sun. at 2 pm)', and a Gallery listing as 'Feb. 14-24'.
But, online, we like to be able to 'slice and dice' the information in many ways, including doing dynamic searches on locations, times, etc.
Is it best to try to get dates and times into the database at the atomic level for better searching? If so, how do you then patch all the relevant data together to get the concise formatting required by Editorial?
Cheers,
Geoff
