9/9/9 Meeting Notes

We're going to start publishing notes from our meetings!

Two days after the meeting, we'll post the collaborative Wiki page as a comment so people receive e-mail updates.

From <David D>: Here are my very incomplete notes from the meeting (I hope others can flesh them out; I tended to take notes on things I was not familiar with):

Anyone experiencing caching problems in Drupal 5.19??

I recently upgraded a website to drupal 5.19, and ever since updating, I am forced to run cron.php, and in some cases even clear the cache to see any changes I make to my style sheets, and/or .tpl files.

Also, around style, in firebug my style.css file is showing as 0f2ab7e0...62c1a.css

I am using Firefox 3.5.2 and Firebug 1.4.2

Anyone else experiencing issues like this?

What do i do if update.php encounters errors?

Hello,

I just ran a few updates and encountered (for the first time) some errors when running update.php. The instructions on the page say that if you encounter errors you may need to update them manually. So two questions:

  1. It says MAY need to update manually, so how do I know if I really need to do anything?

  2. If I need to manually update them how do I do that? can I just copy and paste the failed query into phpMyAdmin (I am guessing no :)

Luckily I backed up my database, so i can revert back, but I do need to update these modules, can anyone offer me some advice?

Search Engine Optimization

I got an email from Packt that this month they plan to release a book called Drupal 6 Search Engine Optimization. It's written by Benjamin Finklea, who wrote the SEO checklist module. I'm really looking forward to this because while the checklist tells you which modules you need, the best configuration is not always obvious.

I suppose it's too early for anybody to have read this book and offer comments, but if you do some time soon, please let us all know.

Views exposed filters for CCK field with allowed values list.

I have a CCK content type with a field that has an allowed values list. This of course works great and when creating the content I get a select list showing only the values I specified. However, Views ignores this list when it comes to the use of an exposed filter on this field. Views creates an exposed filer that is merely a text box, without even an autocompleter. Any suggestions on how I can override this filter with a select box that has the same values as my CCK allowed values list? Even an answer where I have to specify the list again would do me for now.

Thanks for your time.

How to create individual address book, contact list for members?

Hi,
I have a architectural question I wonder if someone can help with.
I want to create a basic address book for each members of my Drupal 6 site (every member would have his/her own book). In Drupal 5 there used to be a module called Addressbook but not in D6? I guess maybe it's pretty easy to do so with now Views and CCK? Can anyone tell me if that's the way to go or is there a D6 module which I've overlooked?

If I need to create one from scratch, could someone briefly describe to me what the architectural procedures would be?

Panels 3 / Ctools -- Edit Panel Content menus load extended

I've just updated from Panels-2 to Panels-3. I've run into some theme problems with Ctools. On the Edit Panels Content page, the page loads with all the CTools drop down menus expanded. This happens with my custom theme, but not with the Garland theme.

Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions on how to fix?

thanks

I need some advice about merging one content type and it's fields into three different content types.. let me explain...

On our site we have a content type called product showcase. This content type was using to store information about products our company has certified. After awhile it became apparent that what I had developed wasn't good enough. We were constantly changing how the fields worked and things were getting sloppy.

How can I modify the output of the Ubercart order summary page?

Hello,

I have been searching high and low to find how to override the Ubercart order summary page (/user/#/order/#) that is the page you get to by going to your account and clicking on "Click here to view your order history." then clicking on a specific order number.

I want to wrap the output in container like

In digging through the ubercart module I found this uc_order_view() function but it looks like that only contributes to a portion of that page build out...
