Hi, we can always meet at

Hi, we can always meet at KITP, just let me know the day/time/# and I will reserve a room. Unless we meet at a cafe this time, instead of a formal conference room.

Do we have a venue set for

Do we have a venue set for our meetup this month? Let me know if there's anything in my bag of tricks I can lend to the cause.

Let's try Killer Shrimp.

Let's try Killer Shrimp. They do have an outdoor patio if it gets too loud inside.

Not today. :) This is on Wednesday, January 22nd.

Thanks Christefano, the date

Thanks Christefano, the date wasn't in the discussion above, so it looked like it was a same-day deal. Wednesdays aren't very easy for me at the moment since it is the one night in the week that Laura and I have time together (and hire a baby sitter) -- I'm not sure going to a Drupal meetup constitutes enough of a date!

moving meeting?

luthien's picture

Hi, could you please move the meeting to some other day so more people can show up? I'm going to SandCamp and I will be busy tomorrow night. thanks.

Hi luthien, we might be able

christefano's picture

Hi luthien, we might be able to schedule another meetup but this one has already been on the calendar for a while. As far as I know, the Santa Barbara Drupal group has never canceled just one day before the event.

What times work for you for the next one? Can you help line up a venue or featured presentation? It would be fantastic to have you at our meetups but sometimes the schedule doesn't always work for everyone.

we can always use the

we can always use the conference room at my workplace (kitp, ucsb) for the meetings and I think any time after 5pm should be fine. I will try to go tomorrow after work.

This is wonderful, thanks

This is wonderful, thanks luthien! Let's talk tonight if we can (or by email if we can't) about booking the KITP for our next meetup.

Do we have any presentations

christefano's picture

Do we have any presentations lined up for tonight? I can probably present on something… I'll bring a projector and a couple raffle prizes.

I'm excited to meet all of

I'm excited to meet all of you. I have been developing sites with Drupal since 2007. Here's one of my latest:

META Lab

I will be there tonight.

Thanks for the link,

Thanks for the link, IntuiVision! I've added it to the business directory at https://groups.drupal.org/sbdrupal/business-directory

I have no idea if Killer Shrimp has a space for projection but if there is then we might have a chance to look at the business directory together to see who's nearby and invite them to our meetups!

if you can't find us, you can

I think this meetup was going

psychobyte's picture

I think this meetup was going to be a little more non-technical but, if you want to bring your laptop and show some stuff of that would be cool.

You know, I think you even

You know, I think you even said that in the original event announcement. Oops, sorry about that   (>//<)

I'll bring some stuff but am happy to go with the casual theme for the evening.

Drupal projects to review

WickenInc's picture

Can't make the meeting tonight but did want to connect with the group to review a few projects and try to find developer fit. I also didn't post as a job since I want to connect to gain a bit of knowledge and resources to help me vet future projects as the come in. If any of the organizers of tonights event think any attendees should contact me please share my info. Its been harder than expected to find a fit since many developers are busy. I live in Ojai and though telecommuting is great would be nice to become more supportive of our local group.

Anyone in the group who is interested feel free to reach out to me for additional information on the points below rob@wickeninc.com / 805-300-6696. I am hoping to find reliable freelance vendors but could consider agencies if they are a fit for any of the following.

  1. My company Incendia Media is too busy to continue supporting a non-profit who has occasional module update and customization needs. We are looking for a knowledgable Drupal developer to support them. They also need to be moved to a new host and a review of their hosting / server requirements especially for their video streaming.

  2. I have many smaller Drupal projects that come in but we only handle the design for. A vendor partnership would be nice so we can pass along these opportunities.

  3. I need to discuss pros and cons of Drupal vs WordPress for very basic projects that would be theme based with little custom branding or functionality. Some of these would then likely need occasional modules added. I have friends and colleagues come to me all the time for suggestions but I haven't been able to give them guidance but would like to. Anyone want to share their knowledge and likely take on these basic projects as they come in?

  4. We even get big projects that we pass on regularly. These may be a fit for developer teams or agencies?

Have a great meet up tonight!

Rob
