Make default publishing options optional

zfactor's picture

Over the years, most of my clients have been confused by the default publishing options - Published, Promote to frontpage, and Sticky at top of lists - appearing on all content types. I think it is great that these options are available in core, but I can say for projects I work on we rarely use these on more than one or two content types. I can understand how having options on the node form that aren't being used would be confusing for content editors.

What do folks think about making these publishing options configurable on the content type creation screen? The options could be as simple as allowing a site builder to enable or disable any publishing option per content type, or in an ideal world, having a UI for creating custom publishing options with the above mentioned as default options available.

I am totally for this without

I am totally for this without knowing the technical possibilities. There are several of these cases where fields come with core and can't be hidden from editors. This is requires editors to learn which fields have an effect and which not. This is not a great editor experience...
