Joomla survey says who uses joomla

Some comments about the survey design

Understanding the users
1) Identify sector, what is your job, what computing knowledge do you have

These are all good questions that provide an understanding of the users.

Frequency
2) How long have you used Joomla

-Here they miss the opportunity to discover usage patterns, which are important considerations in user centered design. Designing for all day usage versus quick update usage.

We have similar patterns in the Joomla results to the Drupal results that once a learning curve is achieved people stick with their platform for multiple sites.

Tasks
Which tasks do you do most frequently
- These results are on par with the Drupal administrator survey, except that template work is much more frequent than it is with Drupal. It's probably a combination of the fact that it's easier to use templates in Joomla combined with the fact that their sites are generally smaller.

Commercial use
-- This is something we haven't checked for

The survey misses several important opportunities.
-They don't find out what's considered easy and what's considered hard.
-They don't find out what's considered important

As a result they have missed the opportunity to focus development resources, on the most important and hardest to use parts of Joomla.

Cheers,
Kieran

Sounds like a good comparison, although the link is giving a 404 for me.
