This is one of the best and most readable case studies I've seen. Great work! :-) I've already learned several things form is (wordpress migration module, preempt panels.....)

I think you need to use simplenews + related nodes. You could create a newsletter issue, with the "Related nodes" being a view of the new articles, whatever "new" means in your context.
