Related event (ie. not Drupal specific)

AchieveInternet's and San Diego's very own Roberto Montero is heading off to the Bay Area, and I will miss him lots! You might know him from all the volunteer work he's doing for the user group and SandCamps since 2010, or from just being a generally friendly guy who's always willing to help with your Drupals. In either case, there will be a little beer & grill get-together today to say Farewell until BADCamp :)

Master Chef Lee Regan is providing the venue and the menu, and I'll be bringing a couple of Booty Boxes from Mission Brewery.

Join us at Droplabs on Saturday, August 18, 2012, for a Barn Raising and Code Sprint to benefit the Arroyo SECO Network of Time Banks! We are also having an open meeting of the Time Bank Tech Team the evening before on Friday, August 17, 2012 that you are welcome to attend.

There's something for everyone at this event. If you're interested in learning more about Drupal and getting some practical hands-on experience, or if you're a Drupal power user and would like to help mentor others into using Drupal's best practices for site development, this is an excellent opportunity.

The Arroyo SECO Network of Time Banks is a non-profit community collective with a mission to facilitate the cooperative exchange of goods and services among its members. Since September 2011, the Arroyo SECO Network of Time Banks has been using Drupal to manage their community website at http://arroyoseco.timebanks.org and its currency system.

At this barn raising, we'll be improving Community Weaver and creating features. The work we do will be shared with TimeBanks USA, which will directly benefit the 400+ time banks that have their own sites that use the same Drupal distribution.

This is our third barn raising for the time bank. See http://ex.tl/ZTT for more information about our previous barn raising and code sprint.

Frontend Drupal meetup at Filter Digital and via WebEx on August 28, 2012 in Culver City, CA

Start:
2012-08-28 19:00 - 21:00 America/Los_Angeles
Event type:
User group meeting

We're excited to announce our new Frontend Drupal meetup, which meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month. This month, we're meeting at Filter Digital, a digital solutions agency in Culver City, between 7-9pm on August 28, 2012. This meetup focuses on design, usability, accessibility and theming, and as part of the Design 4 Drupal movement is about inviting the larger design community to become a part of the Drupal community.

This is looking to be a great kickoff for our series of Frontend Drupal meetups! At our inaugural session, we'll have a presentations about the Foundation framework by Ishmael Sanchez, another presentation on Adobe Edge by shaRon and a lightning talk on @fontyourface by joyseeker.

Our meetups follow a basic format and start off with Drupal news and announcements, local job announcements, raffle prizes and full-length presentations. As always, we'll also have community Q&A, during which time anyone in attendance can ask questions, divine answers from the crowd and give brief, 5-10 minute-long presentations known as lightning talks.

We'll finish off the night with more networking and a Drupal After Dark at 9:30pm.

About Design 4 Drupal (D4D)

Translating a design into a Drupal "theme" is often a high barrier and it has been difficult and costly for many designers to have a “design-driven approach” to Drupal. Feedback from the design community has often focused on the difficulties of designing for the Drupal theme system, which combines several programming disciplines and languages, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP.

Design 4 Drupal is an organized movement in the Drupal community to help make Drupal more friendly and approachable to designers, information architects and usability engineers, and in general anyone who is interested in customizing Drupal’s output to the web page.

At its core, Design for Drupal is about inviting the larger design community together to be a part of the Drupal community and enabling designers, usability engineers, developers, information architects and themers to coordinate efforts, come up with creative ideas and work towards making Drupal easier to use and look beautiful.

Thank You to Our Sponsors!

Filter Digital Light food and refreshments will be served throughout the evening courtesy of our food, drink and venue sponsor, Filter Digital, a digital solutions agency.

Filter Digital's client list spans global brands and Fortune 100 companies to startups and boutique firms. Let us help you create a digital solution that fits your needs!

Creating a node with parameters passed in.

Hey everybody,
Let's say I wanted to create an article (one of the default content types that comes rolled with D7) with a title of "Testing". How could i pass in parameters to the url that would "prefill" the node add form?

I'm imagining something along the lines of:
/node/add/article?title="Testing"

Unfortunately, this does not work. Does anybody do something similar to this or know an equitable solution? Thanks for any help guys.

Kurt

Localhost site no longer working - what can I do to restore it?

Hello everybody,
My localhost site that i've been working on no longer works- it gives me a HTTP Error 500 message. I've been committing and pushing to a private repo pretty regularly. Even when I revert to an earlier version, it still gives me the same error.

My site's database is an SQLite db, located in the sistes/default/files directory.

Does anybody have any tips, information, and/or resources I could use to try to restore my site? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kurt
