This is a local user group for sharing knowledge about Drupal and networking with other folks in the greater Seattle web/tech community.
SeaDUG meets monthly to talk about Drupal, to plan related events, and to socialize. During SeaDUG meetings we showcase modules and projects, share tips and tricks, and answer nagging questions about Drupal.
We welcome participants from all skill levels and all disciplines related to website building and development - marketers, project managers, developers, designers, writers, devops, user researchers, QA, and more.
Stay in Touch
- Join the SeaDUG Slack workspace to chat regularly with other SeaDUG community members.
- Follow us on LinkedIn for more frequent news and Drupal-related content sharing.
Jobs
PLEASE do not post job offers in this group unless they are local to Seattle, or remote and open to people who live in Seattle. Any job posted to this group that is not in the Seattle/Puget Sound Metropolitan Area or open to its residents will be promptly removed.

Official Layout Studio Theme
Hi Everyone,
We’ve almost completed the demo and documentation websites for the Layout Studio development theme. This brings us one step closer to having it officially released on drupal.org. Have a look, and please feel free to send me your comments if you see any spelling mistakes or errors.
You can also leave comments on the documentation site.
Until we get approved as a Drupal Project, you can download the theme on the documentation site.
Thanks,
Rene
NY Times article about Drupal camp
Not exactly a mind blowing article about Drupal, but nice to see Drupal showing up in the NY Times.

I am forwarding this for a friend of a very good friend. I don't really know anything more about the company than what is here and on their website. As far as I know they are not currently using Drupal, but they are looking for PHP/MySQL expertise, so there should be some crossover in this group.
The company is in Seattle...

Meeting on IRC
Did you know the Seattle DUG also has an IRC channel?
check it out at #drupal-seattle (on irc.freenode.net)
There are a couple of us (like heyrocker, japerry, and myself) who are hanging out there daily. We've decided to open a Q&A gathering at 1 pm - 2 pm PST each day. Of course, we are assuming you will ask about Drupal not about the meaning of life. :)
Firefox has a plugin called Chatzilla which will allow you to connect to an IRC channel. That's an easy way to get started. See you there!

At the Mini-Camp yesterday, several people (John, Robert, Josh R, Gregory H, Shawn, and I, and did I forget anyone?) set up a new Drupal 6 web site for Seattle Drupal Camps. I did a little more work on it today (mostly content creation, and a little additional tweaking). You can see the process we went through (including module list) in this wiki: http://groups.drupal.org/node/18879.

Heya folks, linuxfest 2009 is coming up again in Bellingham, WA near the end of April (April 25-26). I'm hoping we can setup another mini drupal camp there, with 4 positions available, or 8 positions if we go into sunday.
I'm creating this as a wiki planning page, I'm going to try to make it to the meeting on the 19th so perhaps we can discuss this again.
Some suggestions at LFNW meeting tonight:
* Intro to drupal
* Hands on drupal
* getting Vancouver drupalists involved with those from Seattle (since b'ham is half way)
Ideas, suggestions?

What Actually Happened
At the Feb 21, 2009 Seattle Drupal Mini-Camp, a group got together to set up (or start setting up) a new web sites for Seattle Drupal camps (http://seattle.drupal-camp.org/) Jennifer H led the group. Helping out: Gregory, Shawn, John, Robert, Josh (did I forget anyone?). Thanks!!
This is a record of what we did (including some work done in days following the mini-camp). At the bottom is a planning section, from before the work session, explaining the specs.
Read moreMultiple layouts for one site
I'm working on a site that has roughly 9 different layouts. I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to assign layouts to different pages. Unfortunately the layouts aren't consistent to a section, so in say the /about section, the page /about/history uses a different layout than /about/staff. Here are my ideas so far:
- Create individual template pages (page-something.tpl.php) for each page (nightmare to maintain!)

Looking to get to Drupalcon from Seattle?
Southwest is offering a 50% off deal from seattle to ANYWHERE from feb until may '09. I just booked drupalcon for $211 after all taxes, roundtrip.
If you're still figuring out travel plans, I'd suggest looking at this route. The deal only goes until tomorrow though.

Can anyone recommend some good modules for 1) generating meta tags and 2) creating a sitemap for Drupal 6?

Drupalcamp Seattle Contributor Solicitation proposal
I am headed up to Vancouver in a few weeks and thought maybe I could see if any Drupaleers up there might want to connect and talk about coming down and presenting in April at our camp. Should I try and get in touch with the folks up there? I like the idea of asking regional (Portland, Vancouver, Victoria, etc) people to help present, especially since everyone seemed keen on the idea of only presenting one session each. Just thought I would put it out there.
thanks,
Jared

Clarion West, a non-profit Seattle-based writers workshop, needs some emergency help with Drupal. Our webmaster is ill, and we have no other Drupal-savvy volunteer. This is just a matter of maintenance, not design: changing some words in the headers and posting a few files -- maybe an hour or two at the most. (Our communications manager can post to the main document areas, but can't figure out how to change text in the headers.)
The site is at http://www.clarionwest.org/ .
If you can help, please contact me off-list or post here.
Thanks much!

So i've been banging my head against this problem, and I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I went so far as to do a fresh install to see if there was some conflict between different modules.
