This is a local user group for sharing knowledge about Drupal and networking with other folks in the greater Seattle web/tech community.
SeaDUG meets monthly to talk about Drupal, to plan related events, and to socialize. During SeaDUG meetings we showcase modules and projects, share tips and tricks, and answer nagging questions about Drupal.
We welcome participants from all skill levels and all disciplines related to website building and development - marketers, project managers, developers, designers, writers, devops, user researchers, QA, and more.
Stay in Touch
- Join the SeaDUG Slack workspace to chat regularly with other SeaDUG community members.
- Follow us on LinkedIn for more frequent news and Drupal-related content sharing.
Jobs
PLEASE do not post job offers in this group unless they are local to Seattle, or remote and open to people who live in Seattle. Any job posted to this group that is not in the Seattle/Puget Sound Metropolitan Area or open to its residents will be promptly removed.

Reccomendations for approach to create a User Directory
Hey All,
I'm working in Drupal 5x and am looking to create/expand the user profile information and then create a directory based on those users.
My requirements:
* Expand the fields to more of a typical contact (address, phone, mobile, im, email, location, web site etc)
* Only certain user roles can see content
* ordered alphabetically
* bonus would be sortable by other fields and searchable
I saw the Profile module, but that seemed to only support drupal 6.
Other folks seem to say use views/nodes, others say that this method is overkill.

So I'm finally at a point where I can demo some of the new deployment stuff I've been working on. Anyone wanna come to Startpad for a lunch demo this week? Maybe Wednesday? Alternately I can do it at DUG, in a side group, although I don't know what kind of space Methodologie has.

I'm working on a site for a client, and they want to have a site-wide search function. So I tried using the Drupal core Search module. Two problems:

Local hosting recommendations...
Hey all,
I've been with Drupal Value Hosting for about a year and my account will renew for another year pretty soon. At first they were great: very Drupal-friendly setups, Seattle-based servers had wicked-short latency and I was happy. Lately, the Seattle servers regularly have loads > 50 which grinds even the most efficient site to a crawl and customer service has gone AWOL. Anyhow...
I'm looking to jump ship if I can find another local hosting option. What I'd like:

Our "client" has arranged a space for us to use: map.

Remove HTML from webform results?
I have a webform with 2 select fields, and the values have some HTML in them to get a nifty hover effect, explaining more about the values.
But it sends the HTML with the form results, which isn't really what I want, and it's annoying for the person who actually uses the form results.

Drupal mentors or classes?
Hi--
I'm wondering if there are any Drupal mentors out there who can help a beginner with specific issues. I've got a couple of sites up and running, but I'm having trouble with customization, and frankly just don't know enough to make it work. Or am getting stuck on what are probably simple roadblocks. I'm willing to pay for it, not looking for a freebie.
I haven't found message boards too helpful, because they usually assume a level of familiarity and skill that I don't have.
Read moreWhich is more efficient - hook_form_alter or hook_menu_alter - for replacing a single page?
I'm replacing a single page from a contributed module. The page is currently rendered with a call to drupal_get_form() from a path like foo/%node/bar
My first thought was to replace the page with hook_form_alter, unset the form elements, and replace with my own content. But I thought that would require a whole lot of preprocessing on the form that I would just discard.
So, my next thought was to just redirect the path to my own function with hook_menu_alter. But, is this less efficient because of the dynamic nature of the path?
I'm just curious if anyone has experience with this.

So March in DC can be pretty crisp, but it will be nice to get back to the east coast. Anyone else going?
BTW, there's no subway from Dulles Airport (IAD) to downtown, so cab or bus. Once inside the beltway the Metro is pretty good for getting around.
