What topics/presentations would you like to see in 2013?
In the interest of boosting attendance and providing a better overall experience for members of this group, I recommend that we start getting ideas together for presentations at our meetups in 2013.
So I'd like to hear from our active members what topics they'd like to see covered (or if you'd like to present on a topic yourself). No idea/presentation should be considered too small or non-important. If there's some aspect of Drupal that you find confusing, or if you're struggling to even get started with Drupal, let us know so we can get some plans in place.

Ideas to Boost Attendance/Participation
At last night's meetup we discussed (among other things) some of the steps we could take to get more people actively involved in our beloved group. I've been coming to our meetups for a little over a year now and at most we've had roughly twenty people (right after Drupalcon 2012), and as little as four (which is closer to the norm). While our member list currently shows 155 members (although I'm certain a good number are not active members), our attendance is usually pretty low. Here are some of the ideas that we talked about last night:

How to read JSON Data and render it using theme_table function?
I don't want to store the data in Drupal. I need to read JSON data from external URL and render that in my theme.
I could use Feeds and JSONPath Parser module if I want to store in Drupal but I just want to read. I am also tying Services module.
Any suggestions, tips would be huge help!
Thanks in advance

Meetup Dates
So I'm thinking we can go ahead and try to schedule the meetups for the rest of the year and try to be more proactive about scheduling. The remaining third Thursday's are as follows:
9/20/2012
10/18/2012
11/15/2012 (Thanksgiving is the following week)
12/20/2012
If the general consensus is that these dates work I will go ahead and check availability of the Millstone and create events for these meetups. If any major objections aren't raised by next Friday (8/30) I'll proceed.

STL August Meetup?
Hey guys, it looks like it’s about that time of the month again. At last month’s meeting we got into a bit about the usage of GIT and its benefits. I believe Jeff will cover the first step of the Drupal Ladder this month. I wanted to go ahead and get a jumpstart on other possible discussion topics.
Are there any topics any of you would like to discuss at our meeting? I’m currently looking into theming pieces for Drupal. I would love to hear what you guys think and have to say about creating template files. What kind of preparations do you put into it before you start on something like this? I’m pretty new to this so anything you have to say, I would be grateful to hear.
Last month, Mike Nestor, Jeff, Aslan (I apologize if I misspelled your name (: ), Chris (our graphic designer), and I had lunch to discuss about implementing workshop sessions in the St Louis area. We can explain our ideas and plans in-depth at the next Drupal meeting. We’d love to have you guys join us and to hear you guys’ ideas for it.

You may have heard a lot about the DrupalCorn Camp 2012 but there is also a pre-camp Training Day that you may consider attending. Although the courses are not totally free, at $20 (lunch included) this is a nominal fee.
Chris Shattuck and Michael Hofmockel are executing two all day training courses that will run the day before the camp.

DrupalCorn Camp 2012 makes local news
I was interviewed by Jessica Miller yesterday about our up coming camp DrupalCorn Camp 2012. You can read it on Ames.Patch.com

It's time to register. A little bird told me they are going to raise the price as the camp approaches.

Looks like it's about that time again for our monthly meetup. Seeing as how our normal third Thursday (19th) is just next week, does anyone have any issues with meeting then or should we push it to the 26th?

June Meetup?
Anybody know details about a possible June meetup? I'm so sorry I wasn't able to make the May 2012 meetup, but I should be able to make a June meeting.
Also, if everyone's okay with it, I'd love to present the Drupal 8 slides produced by Angela Byron (webchick) that are available here. I've been following along with Drupal 8 core development since Drupal 7 was released, and I would enjoy sharing the latest and greatest with the St. Louis group.

STL April/May Meetup
Splitting the difference on the April and May meetings...
Eric was just able to confirm our most favorite meeting spot -- the Millstone room at the Missouri History Museum -- for the 10th of May. Let's plan to kick it off at 7 pm and see what develops.
If you have in mind a presentation, something you'd like to show and tell, or something you'd like to see shown and told. Please let us know. Maybe we can cook something up
The Millstone room is on the 2nd floor mid-way down the corridore leading to the east end of the building.
