create event from calendar clicking on date
I`m trying to make a calendar block with clickable dates. this is for a guest house to make reservations.Clicking on date would take to /node/add/my_event/2009-06-05 or /node/add/my_event/?date=05-05-2009 or similar. I want to pass the date as argument to "create content" form. any guest has access to create this type of node, but the default state is "unpublished" so that only administrator can approve (publish) the node. after that the created event would appear in calendar block and have CSS "has-event" definition (e.g. red color).

Read moreEvent Management System
Overview
Implement an events management system inspired by the best user interfaces and features sets out there including facebook events, meetup.com, and existing contributed modules so that we get the user experience right while working elegantly with organic groups.
Description
The context of this proposal is an awesome ;) organization called Democrats Abroad which is a body of the democratic party that represents americans living abroad.
http://www.democratsabroad.org
This context is interesting (fascinating) because it is truly a global community with different organizational levels global, country, country chapter and cross-cutting topical groups on issues and policy. It is thus a great testbed for this type of a module.
The events management system needs to be flexible enough to work with this type of organizational constraints and at the same time be fluid enough in its user interface as to require zero training and not be the cause of increased support.
A good candidate for this project should have a good eye for implementations with great usability and be motivated to implement our specs in such a way that uses and helps improve existing modules as much as possible.
We are also interested in feedback from the community so that any new modules that need to be developed are flexible enough to work in other contexts.
I have been working on some initial UI mockups that I have posted on flickr here so please check them out:

Mentors:
There are a small number of IT professionals that help out on the DA web site with different skills and roles that will be providing input and guidance to a student that is interested in working with us on this topic. Technical discussions with the developers that are maintaining modules related to this area are seen as essential so that we don't reinvent the wheel and we would be happy to welcome technical advice and participation from the community.

I've created a wiki for the specifications: http://groups.drupal.org/node/20933
Let's keep the discussion going here.I'm trying to get some feed back from the community so that we can develop a solid event registration system for churches. What are your event registration needs? Below is a brain dump of specifications that I have come up with. Comments? Suggestions? Other requirements? Do you want to highlight the most important/least important things from the list for your church?
Read moreCustomize "Add" node layout?
Does anyone know how to or have experience with customizing the 'Add' a node layout? I have the event module and want to add the ability for authenticated users to be able to add an event, however when looking at the form (yoursite.com/node/add/event if you have it installed), I wanted to remove the excess fields such as: Revision Information, Comment Settings, URL Path Settings, etc...
I'm just wondering if there is a common interface for all, or if each individual module is unique.
Thanks!
Read moreHow to create event: "User adjusts its location in drop down list" using a drop down list in a created block ?
Hello!
I would like to do the following:
1/ create a block with a drop down selection list with a list of taxonomy terms (corresponding to locations)
2/ when the user updates the value in this dropdown selection, it would generate an event, and pass the selected term
3/ then a rule would be created using this event: when it happens, it would trigger an action to redirect the user to a page .../selectedlocation
I think i can do 3/ with rule.. would you know how i can do 1/ and 2/ or of any related documentation? Or do you think of a better way to do it than with rules?
